About Oasis Country Club

Oasis Country Club is seeking an experienced, creative, and team-oriented Sous Chef to join our culinary leadership team. Located in Palm Desert, California, Oasis Country Club is known for delivering exceptional hospitality, quality dining experiences, and a welcoming club environment for members and guests.

Position Summary

The Sous Chef will report directly to the Food & Beverage Manager and play a key leadership role in daily kitchen operations. This position supports menu development, food preparation, staff supervision, quality control, inventory management, and execution of club dining, events, and banquet services. The ideal candidate is a hands-on culinary professional who leads by example, maintains high standards, and is passionate about creating memorable dining experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Assist the Food & Beverage Manager in planning, preparing, and executing seasonal menus for daily dining, special events, banquets, and member functions.

Supervise, train, coach, and motivate culinary team members to ensure consistent performance and a positive kitchen culture.

Oversee food preparation, cooking, plating, and presentation to maintain high standards of quality, consistency, and member satisfaction.

Monitor kitchen workflow, station readiness, staffing needs, and production schedules to support efficient daily operations.

Maintain food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards in accordance with applicable regulations and club policies.

Assist with ordering, receiving, inventory control, vendor coordination, and waste reduction to support responsible cost management.

Develop and maintain recipes, prep lists, portion standards, and kitchen procedures.

Support dietary accommodation, including gluten-free, plant-based, and other member-requested menu needs.

Help monitor food and labor costs while maintaining product quality and service excellence.

Cooks or directly supervise the cooking of items that require skillful presentation.

Step into leadership coverage as needed in the Food & Beverage manager’s absence.

Qualifications

Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive culinary experience, including at least 1–2 years in a supervisory, lead cook, or sous chef role.

Experience in a country club, resort, hotel, upscale restaurant, or high-volume hospitality environment preferred.

Culinary degree or certification preferred; equivalent hands-on experience will be considered.

ServeSafe or Food Handler’s Certification required, or ability to obtain within required timeframe.

Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, kitchen operations, food safety standards, and modern plating practices.

Demonstrated leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and flexible schedules based on club operations and event needs.

Ability to stand for extended periods and lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds as needed.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation for this full-time, year-round position is $75,000–$80,000 per year, depending on experience. Benefits include:
