Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Junior Accountant – Accounts Payable for a mission-driven nonprofit healthcare organization dedicated to improving access to comprehensive healthcare and wellness services. This is a full-time, temp-to-hire, onsite opportunity in West Hollywood, CA

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Junior Accountant – Accounts Payable will support day-to-day accounting operations with a primary focus on full-cycle accounts payable, reconciliations, and financial reporting support. This role will work closely with internal teams to maintain accurate financial records, support month-end close, and ensure compliance with grant funding and organizational requirements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and excited to grow their accounting career within a mission-driven nonprofit organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage full-cycle accounts payable, including vendor setup, invoice processing, expense coding, documentation review, approvals, disbursements, vendor reconciliations, and maintenance of W-9s and contracts.
Support general accounting activities, including general ledger reconciliations, prepaid expenses, accruals, intercompany accounts, expense allocations, and monthly close.
Prepare AP aging reports, expense reports, vendor analyses, and required 1099/1096 filings.
Manage expense and credit card activity through Concur, reconcile transactions, resolve discrepancies, and respond to internal staff inquiries.
Support payroll coordination, cash management activities, financial reporting, and process improvement initiatives.
Maintain accurate financial documentation and assist with grant compliance, government contract requirements, and audit preparation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Hands-on experience with accounts payable, invoice processing, reconciliations, or general accounting functions.
Working knowledge of GAAP and foundational accounting principles.
Strong Excel skills and comfort working with accounting software and AP/expense management systems.
Excellent attention to detail, organization, analytical ability, and communication skills.
Nonprofit accounting, grant funding, government contract, or Concur experience is a plus, but not required.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

This exciting temp-to-hire opportunity offers compensation of $34.00–$37.50 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
