Full Job Description

FloorX | Billings, MT

Build your career with one of Montana's growing commercial flooring contractors.

FloorX is looking for a motivated, organized, and driven Commercial Project Engineer to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who wants to build a long-term career in commercial construction and project management.

As a Commercial Project Engineer, you'll work directly with ownership on projects ranging from schools and healthcare facilities to commercial offices, retail spaces, and specialty projects throughout Montana. You'll be involved from bid day through project completion, gaining hands-on experience in estimating, project management, field coordination, and customer relationships.

This is not just an office job—you'll spend time in the field, on job sites, and working alongside some of the top general contractors in Montana.

Responsibilities

Perform material takeoffs from construction drawings
Prepare estimates and bid proposals
Review plans, specifications, and addenda
Request pricing from manufacturers and suppliers
Assist with project budgeting and bid strategy
Help Prepare and manage submittals
Process RFIs and change orders
Facilitate in ordering materials and coordinate deliveries
Assist with scheduling installers and project timelines
Maintain project documentation and closeout packages
Support billing and project financial tracking

Field Operations

Visit commercial job sites throughout Montana
Attend project meetings
Perform quality control inspections and punch lists
Coordinate with general contractors, architects, and owners
Help solve project challenges to keep work moving forward

Qualifications

Required

Strong organizational and communication skills
Self-motivated with excellent attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple priorities
Valid driver's license
Proficient with Microsoft Office

Preferred

Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related degree (or equivalent experience)
Experience reading blueprints
Bluebeam, Procore, or estimating software experience
Commercial construction experience

No flooring experience? No problem. We'll teach you the flooring industry. We're looking for someone with the right attitude, critical thinker, work ethic, and willingness to learn.
