Full Job Description

Compensation: $42 per hour plus a daily per diem of $147.04

About the Position

You will be responsible for the installation, alignment, and maintenance of various shipboard systems, including propulsion units, auxiliary motors, pumps, ventilation, steering mechanisms, and galley or laundry hardware. By interpreting complex blueprints and utilizing precision instruments like micrometers and calipers, you will ensure all components are fitted correctly. Additionally, you will mark out access points on bulkheads and decks for essential steam lines and shafting, while overseeing the precise alignment of reduction gears, bearings, propellers, and rudder assemblies.

Required Experience

Candidates must possess at least four years of professional experience working as an outside machinist.

Preferred Qualifications

A background of four or more years in a shipyard environment is highly desired.

Proficiency in interpreting tape measures for accurate layout.
Expertise in utilizing precision measurement tools and hand metrology to ensure high-quality output.
Strong manual machining capabilities to support complex mechanical tasks.
Ability to operate drills to facilitate precise component mounting.
Skill in performing installations to ensure ship systems are fully operational.
Competence in tapping procedures to maintain secure mechanical connections.
