Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Prudent seeks a skilled Land Survey Party Chief to join our team. The Land Survey Party Chief is responsible for leading field survey crews; performing transportation/design, boundary, topographic, ROW/property, utility, drainage, control, and as-built surveys; and ensuring accurate collection and processing of survey data. This position requires strong technical expertise, leadership ability, and the capability to coordinate with project managers, clients, and office staff to deliver high-quality survey products.
What you'll be able to do:

Lead and supervise assigned field survey crews, including daily field task assignments and on-site oversight, to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

Conduct transportation/design, boundary, topographic, ROW/property, utility, drainage, control, and as-built surveys, ensuring precise measurements and adherence to project specifications and applicable client standards.

Implement and maintain quality control procedures to verify accuracy, completeness, and reliability of collected survey data.

Coordinate with clients, project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to clarify scope, communicate progress, and resolve technical issues.

Manage accurate field-to-office data transfer, including complete field notes, sketches, photographs, point coding, electronic data files, documentation, and data verification to support timely and accurate deliverables.

Operate and maintain survey equipment including robotic Total Stations, GPS/GNSS units, digital levels, and electronic data collectors; review and process field data and coordinate with office staff in support of mapping and other survey deliverables.
The minimum requirements we seek:
- Associate's degree in surveying or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of field surveying experience, including Party Chief responsibilities
- Experience performing NYSDOT Design Surveys, including topographic, ROW/property, utility, drainage, control, and transportation corridor surveys, strongly preferred.
- OSHA 10 and/or work-zone traffic control experience preferred.
- Strong leadership and crew management skills
- Proficiency with robotic Total Stations, GNSS equipment, digital levels, electronic data collectors, and field survey software; experience with Trimble S5/S7 Robotic Total Stations, R12i/R10 GNSS, TSC5 Data Collectors, and Trimble Access preferred
- Familiarity with MicroStation/InRoads or ORD, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Carlson Survey, Traverse PC, MicroSurvey, or other survey-processing/CAD software is a plus
- Valid NYS Driver's License
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and safely perform survey work along active highways, roadways, and other transportation corridors
- LSIT and/or demonstrated progress toward professional licensure preferred
What you'll receive in return:
- A base salary of $60,000 to $90,000 annually, based on experience, plus prevailing wage rates when applicable.
