Full Job Description

Mobile Forklift & Truck Service is looking for Diesel Mechanics to join our team.

The Diesel Mechanic will perform minor and / or major mechanical repairs with minimal supervision to ensure proper performance and safety of customer jobs. Must be willing to learn or have a full understanding of how to properly maintain commercial motor vehicles according to DOT regulations.

After Hours Call-Out bonus

Gain experience with Volvo, Freightliner, Mack, Kenworth, Peterbilt, & an array of different forklifts.

Duties & Responsibilities

Perform routine vehicle maintenance and preventative care
Perform assigned repairs and preventive maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrication, tune-ups, filter replacements, minor adjustments, etc.
Complete required paperwork associated with job completion, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times
Perform road calls to make repairs on call outs for break downs
Complete Annual Inspections
Identify damage and mechanical problems and perform repairs accordingly
Communicate issues with maintenance technicians/managers/drivers on company vehicles and discuss preventative techniques that may minimize future repairs
Assist other mechanics with repairs as requested by supervisor
Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to company safety procedures, and follow established techniques to perform job duties
Ensure shop equipment and tools are in safe operating condition
Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with OSHA Standards
Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately
Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements:

High School diploma or GED
Heavy diesel truck maintenance experience
Valid state issued driver’s license
Must have own tools appropriate for position

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Knowledge of all tools required to perform repairs and maintenance on vehicles
Ability to follow schedules, instructions, technical manuals and maintenance guidelines, and other procedures associated with the maintenance of the company fleet
Ability to judge the distance between equipment and an object
Ability to repeatedly adjust the control and placement of equipment to exact position
Ability to recognize unacceptable waste (such as gasoline or other flammable materials)
Knowledge of DOT, OSHA and other state and federal regulations
Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

This position requires the ability to lift, carry, pull, push and/or move up to 50 pounds.
This position requires the ability to frequently stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, reach with arms and hands, grip, speak, hear, see, climb and/or balance, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, squat, or crawl, use legs, and feet.
This position is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, toxic and/or caustic chemicals or substances, extreme weather conditions, vibration, and equipment under pressure.
The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places and risks of electrical shock. The noise level is usually very loud.
