Job Summary
Riker Legal is seeking a talented, motivated, and detail-oriented Associate Attorney to join our growing practice. The ideal candidate will have strong research and writing skills, sound professional judgment, and a genuine interest in business law, real estate, and civil litigation.
This position offers meaningful responsibility and direct involvement in sophisticated legal matters. The Associate Attorney will work closely with clients and lead counsel on business transactions, commercial real estate matters, contract negotiations, and disputes in state and federal courts, arbitrations, mediations, and administrative proceedings.

Responsibilities
- Advise businesses, entrepreneurs, investors, property owners, and individuals on transactional and litigation matters.
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, operating agreements, corporate governance documents, purchase agreements, leases, and related business documents.
- Assist with business formations, ownership arrangements, acquisitions, sales, restructuring, compliance, and general corporate matters.
- Support commercial real estate acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, financing, development, and closing activities.
- Review title commitments, surveys, due-diligence materials, zoning matters, environmental reports, and other property-related documents.
- Handle civil and commercial litigation matters from initial assessment through resolution or trial.
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, briefs, settlement agreements, and legal correspondence.
- Conduct legal research and develop clear, well-supported legal analysis and case strategies.
- Assist with and participate in depositions, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
- Analyze claims, defenses, damages, exposure, and settlement options based on each client’s practical objectives.
- Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, courts, government agencies, and other transaction participants.
- Manage deadlines, case files, transaction documents, and client communications accurately and efficiently.
- Collaborate with lead counsel while progressively assuming greater responsibility for matters and client relationships.
- Maintain the highest standards of professionalism, confidentiality, responsiveness, and client service.
Representative Matters
The Associate Attorney may work on matters involving:
- Business formation, governance, contracts, and regulatory compliance
- Business purchases, sales, and ownership disputes
- Commercial real estate acquisitions and dispositions
- Commercial leasing, title, survey, zoning, financing, and development
- Breach-of-contract and other commercial disputes
- Employment and discrimination matters
- Construction and insurance disputes
- Civil fraud and business tort claims
- Administrative proceedings
- Mediations, arbitrations, and state and federal litigation
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school
- Active and in-good-standing admission to the applicable state bar, or eligibility for prompt admission
- Licenses in Indiana and Florida will be required (costs of preparation and application covered by the Firm)
- Excellent legal research, analytical, and writing abilities
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, polished work
- Ability to communicate complex legal issues clearly and practically
- Sound judgment, professionalism, and respect for client confidentiality
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines without sacrificing quality
- Initiative, accountability, and a willingness to take ownership of assignments
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Commitment to responsive, practical, and client-centered legal service
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience in business law, commercial real estate, or civil litigation
- Experience drafting and negotiating contracts or transaction documents
- Experience drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery
- Exposure to depositions, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, or trials
- Judicial clerkship, law-firm experience, or another position involving substantial legal research and writing
- Familiarity with state and federal court procedures
- Proficiency with legal research and case-management platforms
Exceptional candidates with strong academic credentials, writing ability, and relevant internships or clerkships are encouraged to apply even if they do not meet every preferred qualification.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
