Major Function: Management of financial operations
Relationship: Reports to the Chief Executive Officer
Classification: Regular, (32-40 hours per week)

This position is responsible for maintaining the financial integrity of the Community Foundation Partnership, Inc. (CFP) through accurate accounting practices, compliance with regulations, and effective financial management. The position works closely with the CEO, Treasurer, Finance and Audit Committees, and external partners. The candidate must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to maintain confidential information, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities with a high level of professionalism.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position’s primary responsibility is to manage the financial and accounting operations of CFP for the benefit of the communities we serve. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Accounting Functions
- Maintain accurate accounting records in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and ensure adherence to all IRS, federal, and state regulations.
- Assist with administration of accounting policies, procedures, and internal control activities.
- Oversee the posting of all gifts and grants.
- Manage accounts payable, grants payable, accounts receivable, and associated records.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate internal control systems related to financial operations.
- Reconcile all funds and accounts and ensure timely and accurate monthly closings.
- Prepare annual operating budget and spending projections for endowed funds.
- Oversee the annual audit and Form 990 preparation process; serve as primary contact with external auditors.
- File property tax exemptions, 1099s, state reporting, and assist with filing tax returns.
- Organize and support Finance and Audit Committees; prepare materials, record minutes, and assist the committee chair with related projects.
- Lead financial forecasting and cash management efforts in coordination with local financial institutions and the board Treasurer.
- Prepare weekly and end-of-month deposits.
- Administer insurance policies and serve as primary contact with insurance agencies.
- Process and link endowment funds in related computer software programs.
- Prepare financial reports and spreadsheets for staff and board use.
- Serve as the primary resource for the Community Foundation’s information management system (Blackbaud FENXT).
Information Systems
- Maintain working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other software necessary for Foundation operations, including grant-tracking systems.
Investment Responsibilities
- Ascertain that all assets are invested in accordance with CFP investment policy statements.
- Serve as the primary contact for financial institutions, investment advisors, and related staff.
- Work with investment advisors and external accounting firms on charitable trusts.
Human Resources
- Prepare and process bi-weekly payroll and related reporting.
- Work with the CEO on HR functions related to payroll and financial operations.
- Serve as the primary contact for retirement plan administration and coordinate with external advisor to transfer funds and maintain account.
Other Responsibilities
- Research and purchase office equipment as requested by the CEO; negotiate and manage service contracts (IT, phone, etc..).
- Respond to industry surveys and questionnaires, as directed by the CEO.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the CEO.

- Knowledge of fund accounting.

- Intermediate-level Excel skills.
- Experience with accounting and financial management systems (Blackbaud preferred).
- Ability to learn new systems.
- Strong integrity, work ethic, punctuality, and discretion.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, BACKGROUND:
- Accounting experience required, nonprofit or fund accounting experience preferred.
- Degree in accounting, finance, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency with computer applications, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
