JOB DESCRIPTION

Material Handling Systems, Inc. (MHS) is seeking a highly motivated Assistant Manager to support our sales operations, enhance procedural development and provide best in class customer service. The Assistant Manager will assist in preparing job quotes, communicating with customers, coordinating operations with branch managers, and develop procedures to enhance departmental efficiency. This position requires strong technical aptitude, excellent organization, and the ability to balance priorities in a fast-paced environment. This position is part of our Management Apprentice Program leading to potential promotion to a Branch Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Organize and coordinate daily sales operations to improve productivity and customer service.

· Prepare quotes and communicate with customers on proposals and open opportunities.

· Enter and maintain customer data in NetSuite and Excel tracking systems.

· Collaborate with branch managers to schedule jobs, order parts, and approve completed work.

· Interface with existing customers and assist in expanding new business opportunities.

· Write clear, concise internal procedures to standardize department workflows.

· Learn and apply technical knowledge of cranes, hoists, and other MHS products to assist with quoting and sales processes.

· Source parts and communicate with distributors to obtain accurate pricing and timely shipment.

· Monitor and improve internal procedures to minimize customer downtime.

· Provide exceptional customer service by addressing and resolving customer inquiries and concerns promptly.

· Communicate effectively with team members, management, and customers to ensure clarity and alignment.

Hiring Requirements

· High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.

· Minimum 2 years of experience in sales coordination, customer service, or administrative support (industrial or manufacturing environment preferred).

· Proficient in ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

· Strong organizational, analytical, and written communication skills.

· Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

· Positive, energetic attitude with a focus on teamwork and continuous improvement.

· Aptitude to learn technical product knowledge and apply it to quoting and customer support.

· Strong problem-solving skills and commitment to exceptional customer service.

· Develop productive cross functional partnerships with key stakeholders

· Experience in outside sales is required; crane industry sales experience is preferred but not mandatory.

· Comfortable visiting customer sites to assess needs, build relationships, and present solutions.

· Ability to effectively sell and upsell products and services based on customer requirements.

· Proven ability to generate new business and proactively grow customer accounts.

· Strong confidence in high-volume sales environments and meeting sales targets.

· Ability to represent MHS professionally during on-site customer meetings and sales presentations
