Construction Operations Coordinator – Project-BasedAbout AVI
AVI (Audio Video Innovations) is a technology integration company specializing in luxury residential environments, including home automation, architectural lighting, motorized shading, audio/video, networking, security, and low-voltage systems.
We are currently preparing the operational infrastructure for our expansion into South Florida and are looking for a highly resourceful Construction Operations Coordinator to help us build that foundation.
This is not a traditional administrative assistant position, nor is it primarily a field construction position.
The initial assignment is a project-based engagement expected to last approximately 8–12 weeks, working directly with AVI's founder to help research, organize, document, and implement the systems, resources, and relationships required to launch our Florida operation.
There is potential for this role to evolve into a permanent Operations / Project Coordination position as AVI's Florida project pipeline develops.
What You'll Be Helping Us Build
AVI is preparing to manage multiple luxury residential technology projects in South Florida. Your initial mission will be to help make the operation ready before those projects begin.
You will help research, coordinate, and organize areas including:
- Florida licensing, permitting, and compliance requirements
- Low-voltage contractor and qualifier options
- Electrical contractor relationships
- Insurance requirements and local providers
- Local installers and field resources
- Engineering, CAD, Revit, and BIM resources
- Manufacturer and distributor relationships
- Procurement procedures
- Receiving, warehousing, and logistics alternatives
- Project management and operational software
- Vendor and subcontractor databases
- Project documentation standards
- RFI and submittal processes
- Procurement and project trackers
- Standard operating procedures and checklists
You will also help maintain a centralized AVI Florida Launch Tracker showing what needs to happen, who is responsible, deadlines, status, blockers, and decisions required.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is proactive, resourceful, organized, and very good at figuring things out.
You should be comfortable receiving an objective without being given every individual step.
For example, if asked:
"Determine what AVI needs in order to legally perform low-voltage work in Florida and identify possible local partners."
You should be comfortable researching the subject, identifying the appropriate agencies and professionals, making calls, gathering information, comparing alternatives, documenting your findings, and returning with clear next steps.
The ideal candidate:
- Is extremely organized and detail-oriented
- Is a strong researcher
- Takes initiative without requiring constant supervision
- Is persistent with follow-ups
- Is comfortable contacting vendors, contractors, government agencies, and professionals
- Can organize unstructured information into clear documentation
- Can manage several workstreams simultaneously
- Communicates professionally
- Is comfortable working directly with company leadership
- Enjoys building processes and systems from the ground up
Preferred Background
Experience in any of the following is particularly valuable:
- Construction project coordination
- Architecture or design firms
- Real estate development
- Interior design
- Engineering
- Preconstruction
- Construction administration
- Operations
Experience in AV, smart-home technology, lighting, or low-voltage systems is helpful but not required.
Strong English communication skills are required. Spanish is highly valued.
Candidates located anywhere in South Florida — from Miami through Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, Delray Beach, and West Palm Beach — are encouraged to apply, provided they can attend occasional meetings or site visits in the Delray Beach/Boca Raton area.
Engagement
- Type: Contract / Project-Based
- Initial Duration: Approximately 8–12 weeks
- Expected Commitment: Approximately 15–20 hours per week
- Work Arrangement: Primarily flexible/hybrid, with occasional local meetings or site/vendor visits as needed
- Compensation: $25–$30/hour depending on experience
This engagement is focused on defined objectives and deliverables rather than simply hours worked.
As AVI's Florida project pipeline develops, there may be an opportunity for the right person to transition into a permanent Operations / Project Coordinator position.
What Success Looks Like
By the end of the initial engagement, AVI should have a documented and organized operational foundation for launching and executing luxury residential projects in Florida.
We are looking for someone who wants to help us build the operation, not simply work inside an existing one.
