Full Job Description

Our ophthalmology/optometry practice is hiring an Optical Manager! We are looking for a friendly, personable, team player who is highly organized, very detail oriented and looking for a long-term, fulfilling career. This individual is responsible for all aspects of the successful operation of the optical department while providing exceptional customer service to our patients.

3 years of experience as an Optician, with at least 1 year in a management or supervisory role required.

ABO Certification preferred.

Essential Skills:

-Team Leadership: Assist with hiring, training, and mentoring opticians.

-Financial Oversight: Manage the optical dispensary's P&L, track sales metrics, and optimize frame/lens inventory.

-Customer Experience: Resolve complex patient issues, ensure seamless frame styling, and maintain high standards of patient care.

-Vendor Management: Negotiate frame and lens vendors, manage purchasing, and oversee lab relations.

Other duties include, but are not limited, to:

-Ordering contact lenses by accurately specifying lens parameters; verify lens specifications on delivery prior to patient notification; maintains data base of lenses ordered and received.

-Strong working knowledge of optical and medical insurance verification, POS systems, and optical lab equipment

-Knowledge of OfficeMate.

-Making follow-up phone calls, scheduling appointments, etc.

-Basic knowledge of ophthalmology/optometry, ie: anatomy, cataracts, etc.

-Computer literacy.
