2nd Shift: Monday–Thursday, 3:30 PM–2:00 AM
Monday start time: 3:00 PM
Shift Differential: +$2.50/hour

Position Summary
The Punch/Laser Operator sets up and runs CNC punch press and/or laser cutting equipment to produce precision sheet metal parts to customer drawings and production schedules. This is a skilled operator role requiring strong machine knowledge, the ability to read technical documentation, and a quality-first approach to every part produced. The right person works with independence, owns the quality coming off their machine, and actively contributes to throughput and efficiency goals.
What You'll Do
- Set up and operate CNC punch press and laser cutting equipment per job travelers, nest files, and engineering drawings for each production run
- Load programs, select tooling, and verify machine parameters prior to running production to ensure accuracy from the first part
- Perform first-article and in-process inspection to verify dimensional accuracy and cut quality against engineering print requirements
- Identify and address material nesting issues, tool wear, and cut quality deviations promptly before they generate scrap
- Monitor machine performance throughout the shift and report maintenance needs or anomalies to the supervisor immediately
- Stage, move, and track material and finished parts accurately using the established labeling and routing process
- Maintain accurate production counts and document all shift completions per the established ERP tracking and reporting requirements
- Perform basic machine maintenance including tooling changes, nozzle cleaning, and debris removal per the PM schedule
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area at all times
What We're Looking For
- 2 or more years of CNC punch press or laser cutting experience in a sheet metal fabrication environment is required
- Proficiency with CNC controls and program review on platforms such as Trumpf, Amada, Pega, or Finn-Power preferred
- Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret flat pattern geometry accurately and independently
- Working knowledge of material nesting concepts and sheet utilization principles
- Strong attention to part quality and dimensional accuracy throughout the full production run
- Reliable attendance and consistent availability for the 2nd shift schedule
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to safely handle and lift fabricated parts or raw materials weighing up to 35 pounds repeatedly and continuously throughout the shift.
- Must be able to stand and move throughout the production work area for the majority of the workday.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, and reach as required by the physical demands of the work and the layout of the production area.
- Must be able to perform repetitive hand, wrist, and arm movements including operating machine controls and handling parts and tooling throughout the full shift.
- Must be able to operate a pallet jack safely and independently when moving raw material, work-in-process, or finished parts between work areas as production requires.
