Job Overview

We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Center Store (Grocery) Manager to lead our retail grocery operations with enthusiasm and precision. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the management of the grocery section, ensuring smooth daily operations, excellent customer service, and effective team leadership. Your proactive approach will drive sales growth, maintain optimal inventory levels, and uphold the highest standards of store presentation. This position offers a dynamic environment where your management skills and retail expertise will directly impact the shopping experience for our valued customers.

Responsibilities

Lead and supervise the grocery department team, fostering a positive and productive work environment through training, coaching, and development.
Oversee inventory management, including stock replenishment, ordering, purchasing, and stock rotation to ensure product availability and freshness.
Implement effective merchandising strategies to maximize product visibility and sales potential while maintaining attractive store displays.
Manage day-to-day store operations such as cash handling, POS (Point of Sale) system management, pricing accuracy, and cashier supervision.
Ensure compliance with safety standards, health regulations, and company policies through regular audits and staff training.
Coordinate with suppliers for procurement needs, negotiate pricing agreements, and monitor delivery schedules to optimize purchasing efficiency.
Handle customer inquiries and resolve issues promptly to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.
Monitor sales performance using retail math principles; analyze data to identify trends and opportunities for growth.
Maintain accurate bookkeeping records related to payroll, inventory control, and operational expenses.
Supervise shift management activities including scheduling staff coverage during peak hours to ensure smooth store functioning.

Experience

Proven management experience within a retail grocery or similar fast-paced retail environment with supervisory responsibilities.
Strong background in retail sales management, including team leadership, employee orientation, interviewing candidates, and training & development.
Demonstrated proficiency in inventory control systems, POS systems, cash handling procedures, and merchandising techniques.
Excellent communication skills in managing managerial conversations with staff and customers alike; bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus for diverse team engagement.
Experience with budgeting, payroll processing, bookkeeping practices, and operational management is highly desirable.
Prior experience in grocery store operations including stocking, pricing strategies, cashier supervision, and shift management is essential.
Ability to apply basic math skills confidently for retail math calculations such as sales tracking and inventory assessments.
Familiarity with retail industry sales team management practices along with supervising experience in a retail setting is preferred.
