Full Job Description

Do you want your clinical work to make a real difference outside the four walls of an office?

The Heriford House Counseling Center is growing our No Family Left Behind program and is looking for a passionate, mission-driven Intensive In-Home Family Therapist to support youth and families across Boone County.

This role is ideal for a therapist who believes families can heal, youth can grow, and the right support can help prevent out-of-home placement, justice involvement, and long-term crisis. You will work directly with youth, caregivers, schools, courts, and community partners to help families build stability, improve communication, and create lasting change.

What You’ll Be Doing

The Intensive In-Home Family Therapy program is a short-term, evidence-informed clinical model serving families with youth ages 8 to 19 who have been referred due to behavioral, emotional, family, school, juvenile justice, mental health, or child welfare concerns.

Over the course of approximately 3 to 6 months, therapists work closely with youth and caregivers multiple times per week, primarily in the family’s home or community setting. The goal is to help families strengthen relationships, reduce crisis patterns, improve youth behavior, increase stability, and support mental wellness.

This is hands-on, meaningful work with families who need consistent, compassionate, and skilled support.

Responsibilities Include

Provide therapy to youth and families in home and community settings
Use family systems, solution-focused, and strengths-based interventions
Maintain a caseload of approximately 4 to 5 families
Complete clinical assessments and gather data to measure progress
Develop individualized, measurable treatment plans in collaboration with the youth, family, and care team
Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation
Collaborate with referral sources, schools, juvenile justice partners, child welfare providers, and community resources
Provide culturally responsive and trauma-informed care
Maintain flexible availability based on family needs

Intensive In-Home Family Therapy is designed to reduce antisocial behaviors, increase family stability, and help prevent out-of-home placement.

Who We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who is passionate about working with youth and families, especially families who may be experiencing crisis, systemic barriers, trauma, or complex needs.

The ideal candidate is:

What We Require

Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field
Bachelor’s degree with extensive relevant experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis
Experience working with youth and/or families in a clinical or community-based setting
Valid Missouri driver’s license
Reliable transportation
Ability to provide services in homes and community locations throughout Boone County
