Job Summary
Ardent Staffing Solutions is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented SMT Technician for a full-time opportunity in a fast-paced electronics manufacturing environment. This position plays an important role in supporting high-quality PCB manufacturing and electronic assembly operations for industries such as medical devices, clean energy, automotive technology, and advanced electronics.
The SMT Technician will be responsible for preparing components, setting up and operating SMT equipment, loading feeders, staging materials, performing basic troubleshooting, and supporting production of printed circuit board assemblies. The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter who enjoys hands-on technical work, follows procedures carefully, and takes pride in producing quality assemblies that meet IPC and internal quality standards.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare, verify, and stage components and materials for SMT production.

Load feeders accurately and ensure proper component setup.
*
Set up and operate SMT equipment, including:
*
Screen printers
*
Pick-and-place machines
*
Reflow ovens
*
Inspection systems
*
Monitor production equipment to ensure efficient and accurate operation.
*
Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on SMT equipment.
*
Follow operating procedures, work instructions, IPC standards, and quality requirements.
*
Identify and escalate equipment, material, or process issues to the Team Lead as needed.
*
Support production schedules and help ensure PCBA assemblies are completed on time.
*
Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to improve quality, efficiency, and workflow.
*
Cross-train on equipment and processes to support team flexibility.
*
Maintain a clean, organized, and ESD-safe work environment.
*
Follow all safety, quality, and production procedures.
Basic Qualifications
*
High school diploma or equivalent required.
*
Authorized to work in the United States.
*
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
*
Good accountability, reliability, and hand-eye coordination.
*
Comfortable using computers for daily production tasks.
*
Enjoys hands-on work with tools, machinery, and equipment.
*
Ability to follow instructions accurately in a fast-paced production environment.
*
Strong communication skills in English.
*
Willingness to learn, take initiative, and work as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
*
Experience operating SMT machinery, production lines, or inspection equipment.
*
Experience with AOI, X-ray, or other electronic inspection systems.
*
Prior SMT, PCB, PCBA, electronics assembly, or fast-paced manufacturing experience.
*
Familiarity with MES systems.
*
Familiarity with 5S principles.
*
Experience working in an ESD-safe environment.
*
Soldering or rework experience, including SMT or through-hole components.
*
IPC or J-STD certification is a plus.
*
Knowledge of IPC-A-610 standards is a plus.
