Full Job Description

The Family Support Facilitator & Advocate provides advocacy, case management, family stabilization, outreach, resource navigation, and direct family programming services to children and families. This position is also responsible for planning, facilitating, and supporting parenting programs, parent education workshops, support groups, and family engagement activities.

The position partners with families to identify strengths, remove barriers, build parenting skills, and connect them with services and opportunities that promote long-term stability and success.

Primary Responsibilities

Build trusting relationships with children, parents, caregivers, and community members.
Plan, coordinate, and facilitate parenting programs, parent education workshops, support groups, and family engagement activities that promote positive parenting, child development, family communication, and overall family well-being.
Create engaging and culturally responsive activities and discussions that encourage parent participation, peer connection, and learning.
Conduct family assessments and develop individualized family success plans.
Provide advocacy, crisis intervention, family stabilization, and case management.
Connect families to housing, healthcare, childcare, education, workforce development, transportation, food assistance, and other community resources.
Advocate for families with schools, healthcare providers, housing authorities, and partner agencies.
Facilitate resource workshops, support groups, family information sessions, and other educational programming.
Conduct outreach and recruitment to increase family participation and engagement in parenting and family support programs.
Develop partnerships and network with community organizations and stakeholders.
Represent Smart from the Start at outreach events, resource fairs, community meetings, and family engagement opportunities.
Maintain accurate attendance, documentation, reports, referrals, family records, and program data.
Monitor family participation and provide follow-up support, encouragement, and referrals as needed.
Collaborate with staff across departments to coordinate services and provide comprehensive support to families.
Assist with planning special events, family activities, and community engagement initiatives.
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field preferred. An Associate degree with equivalent experience will be considered.

Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant experience working with children and families, including experience facilitating parenting programs, family engagement activities, workshops, support groups, advocacy, case management, or community-based programming.

Strong communication, group facilitation, advocacy, networking, relationship-building, and organizational skills required. Experience working with diverse families and communities is strongly preferred.

Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
