Position Summary
The Bilingual Peer Support Specialist provides recovery-oriented peer support services in both English and Spanish to individuals seeking recovery from substance use disorders, mental health challenges, and other barriers to wellness. Drawing from lived experience in recovery, the Peer Support Specialist builds trusting relationships, offers hope, connects members to community resources, and helps individuals navigate systems of care while promoting long-term recovery and belonging.
This position plays a vital role in expanding Recovery Café Longmont's Spanish-language programming and ensuring that Spanish-speaking community members have equitable access to recovery support, community resources, and the Café's programs and services.
Essential Responsibilities
Bilingual Peer Support
● Provide one-on-one and group peer support in both English and Spanish.
● Welcome and engage new Spanish-speaking members through Radical Hospitality.
● Share lived recovery experiences appropriately to inspire hope and encourage recovery.
● Assist members in identifying personal recovery goals and developing action plans.
● Facilitate connections to Recovery Café programming, including Recovery Circles,
School for Recovery classes, opportunities to give back, and community events.
● Maintain appropriate professional boundaries while providing compassionate,
person-centered support.
Resource Navigation & Support for Spanish-Speaking Members
● Provide culturally responsive support to Spanish-speaking members as they identify
needs and goals related to recovery, health, housing, employment, family stability, and
overall wellness.
● Help members understand available services and connect them with appropriate
community resources, treatment providers, healthcare services, recovery supports, and
other programs that support their recovery journey.
● Assist Spanish-speaking members in navigating healthcare, social service, and
community systems by helping with referrals, appointments, applications, and
communication when needed.
● Support members in accessing harm reduction services, recovery support services, and
Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) resources when appropriate.
● Advocate for equitable, language-accessible services and help reduce barriers that
Spanish-speaking members may experience when seeking support.
Data Collection & Documentation
● Accurately collect participant information and maintain confidential records.
● Complete timely data entry into Recovery Café's client management and reporting
systems.
● Document peer support contacts, referrals, outreach activities, member progress, and
program participation.
● Assist with grant reporting requirements by maintaining accurate data and outcome
tracking.
● Support evaluation efforts by collecting program metrics and participant feedback.
Team Collaboration
● Participate in staff meetings, supervision, and ongoing training.
● Collaborate with Recovery Café staff and community partners to coordinate member
support.
● Assist with Café operations and community activities as needed.
● Contribute to maintaining a welcoming, inclusive, and culturally responsive environment.
Qualifications
Required
● Fluency in both English and Spanish (written and spoken).
● Minimum of two (2) years of continuous recovery from substance use.
● Colorado Certified Peer and Family Specialist (CPFS) Certification.Colorado Certified

● Willingness to appropriately share lived recovery experience in support of others.
● Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
● Knowledge of recovery principles, harm reduction, and trauma-informed care.
● Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural and socioeconomic
backgrounds.
● Basic computer proficiency and ability to complete electronic documentation and data
entry.
● Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for community outreach.
Preferred
● Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT) Certification.
● Experience working with Spanish-speaking communities.
● Experience in outreach, community organizing, or recovery support services.
● Knowledge of local behavioral health, housing, and social service systems.

What This Position Does Not Do
● Provide clinical therapy or counseling.
● Offer medical or legal advice.
● Diagnose mental health or substance use disorders.
● Transport members outside organizational policies.
● Maintain personal relationships with members outside professional boundaries.
Physical Requirements
● Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
● Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
● Ability to travel throughout Boulder County for outreach activities.
Schedule
This is a part-time position averaging 20 hours per week. Occasional weekend hours may be required to support community outreach events and Recovery Café programming.
Compensation
● $25.00 per hour
