JOB SUMMARY: The Human Resources Generalist serves as an operational and strategic partner to leaders and Team Members, supporting Team Member relations, engagement, compliance, performance management, leave administration, and HR operations. This position provides guidance on company policies, employment practices, and delivers HR support across the full Team Member lifecycle, while ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and company standards.
SCOPE: This position operates with a high degree of professionalism, confidentiality, and independent judgment, who serves as a trusted resource to the HR department, operation leaders, and Team Members. They will balance strategic initiatives with day-to-day HR operations within a fast-paced gaming and hospitality environment, fostering a positive and service-oriented culture.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the Human Resources Manager and Sr. Director of Human Resources to ensure all policies and procedures are adhered to and standards consistently met.
- Administer Team Member data changes within UKG HRIS system, including new hire setup, employee status changes, transfers, promotions, compensation updates, direct deposit elections, tax withholding forms, personal information updates, PTO administration, scheduling assignments, and user access management, ensuring data integrity and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct preliminary investigations involving workplace concerns, policy violations, attendance issues, harassment allegations, and Team Member complaints.
- Partner with the HR Manager on corrective action, disciplinary documentation, past practice, and conflict resolution.
- Support compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, PWFA, EEO, and workers' compensation requirements.
- Serve as the property administrator for HRIS onboarding platforms, E-Verify, and workflows.
- Manage set-up and continuous improvement of property new hire orientation, BIG Service and other required training and professional development initiatives.
- Facilitate new hire orientation and ensure completion of all required employment documentation and licensing requirements.
- Coordinate and execute the pre-employment process.
- Assist with ADA accommodation requests and interactive process documentation.
- Analyze employment-related data and prepare required reports for the Human Resources Manager.
- Maintains current knowledge of employment laws and regulations, including EEO, FLSA, DOL, and other applicable federal and state requirements.
- Administer leave programs including FMLA, personal leave, military leave, and disability-related leaves.
- Ensure Team Member files are property and accurately maintained, in alignment with record retention requirements.
- Maintain Team Member communication boards and weekly departmental huddle announcements.
- Assist in the recruitment process by reviewing employment applications and job acquisitions to match applicants with job requirements.
- Develop, coordinate, and evaluate Team Member engagement, recognition, communication, and retention initiatives.
- Collaborate with Payroll team to ensure compliance with company payroll procedures.
- Effectively maintain KHRC applications, licensing process and distribution of licenses.
- Conduct Exit Interviews and share results and metrics with appropriate leadership.
- Assist with unemployment requests, audits, and filings on paper and electronically.
- Assist Human Resources Manager with any additional duties assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of progressive Human Resources experience required.
- HR Generalist experience preferred.
- HRIS experience required. UKG experience, preferred.
- Experience handling Team Member relations matters, preferred.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Detail-oriented approach to work.
- Proficiency with Microsoft office suite products.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and adhere to deadlines.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Must pass all required pre-screening and background checks.
- Internal candidates must meet the eligibility requirements as provided in the Transfer and Promotion policy.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Kentucky gaming/racing license.
