MCM is in search of a full-time Director of Tax. This position will be a core member of the management team, providing deep expertise in tax planning, working through complex tax issues, and tax preparation. This individual will advise individuals, families, business owners and entities on integrating tax and financial planning. The Director must possess excellent research abilities, and be able to apply current and changing tax laws and strategies to add value to the financial planning process. The ideal candidate would embrace their role as a strategist, helping to identify and uncover ongoing opportunities for clients to consider – not just during tax season, but throughout the year – and genuinely enjoy helping clients achieve their own definitions of success.
The duties of this role would include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Serving as the lead tax strategist and tax preparer for the firm’s clients
· Preparing and reviewing individual, corporate, partnership and trust income tax returns, including multi-state returns
· Providing client-specific tax planning and forecasting throughout the year, leading discussion and working alongside our firm’s wealth management principals during client review meetings
· Conducting research on current tax practices and tax law updates to apply knowledge and drive informed decision-making throughout the financial planning process
· Ability to continue to grow the firm’s tax and accounting practice, and be compensated accordingly
Desired Credentials:
The applicant should possess the CPA or EA (Enrolled Agent) credential and have knowledge and/or interest in the financial planning industry. Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Accounting, Finance, or Business. Five plus years of relevant work experience is preferred.
The position requires proficiency in Microsoft Office and the willingness to learn other business-related software, in which training will be provided. Experience with Excel formulas, tax software and related investment and/or research software is an advantage. The position requires basic knowledge of finance, income taxes, investments, asset allocation and estate planning concepts. This position requires the ability to work effectively on multiple deadline-oriented projects, especially during tax season (January-April).

Compensation: Starting range between $100,000-$175,000 commensurate with experience; eligible to earn incentives for continued business growth
