Full Job Description

Summary
The Division of Syndemic and Substance Use Services seeks to hire a Policy and Program Assistant (contractor) to join the Harm Reduction Team. This role will assist with policy and program development for the Harm Reduction Program, which supports the authorization, funding, and oversight of New Jersey's 65+ Harm Reduction Centers that serve people who use drugs. We are looking for a highly organized, self-starter that will focus on drafting, implementing, and maintaining policies, procedures, and systems for a dynamic, growing program.

Responsibilities

Assist in designing, refining, and keeping up-to-date harm reduction programs and policies, ensuring alignment with current public health standards, stakeholder needs, and Department/Division policies.
Assist with the development of project management and stakeholder communication systems.
Monitor a shared inbox and assist with developing a system for triaging requests.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members including project management officers, research scientists/evaluators, fiscal support staff, and leadership.
Learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the Division (e.g., SAGE grants system, HRC database).
Develops subject matter expertise in harm reduction services and related evidence-based approaches/ services for people who use substances.
Other duties as assigned, related to the oversight/funding of NJ Harm Reduction Centers

Requirements

Applicants must meet one of the following or a combination of both experience and education. Thirty (30) semester hour credits are equal to one (1) year of relevant experience.

Four (4) years of professional experience relevant to the position.

Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Note: This is a contractor position designed for individuals passionate about advancing evidence-based, non-judgmental care for people who use substances in New Jersey. If successful in the role, the contractor may be considered for a permanent role in the Division.

Pay: $33.63 per hour
