Full Job Description

Job Summary

The Warehouse Associate supports inventory control, order fulfillment, product distribution, warehouse operations, and facility maintenance at Florida Gateway Food Bank (FGFB). As an employee of Second Harvest of the Big Bend (SHBB) and a member of the Operations team, the Warehouse Associate works onsite at Florida Gateway Food Bank and collaborates with both organizations to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant food storage and distribution operations. This position assists with product receiving, inventory management, warehouse organization, equipment operation, food safety compliance, and partner agency support. The Warehouse Associate receives day to day task supervision from Florida Gateway Food Bank leadership and participates in ongoing training and coordination with SHBB Operations staff. The position supports the missions of both organizations by helping increase the availability, quality, and distribution of food throughout the communities served by Florida Gateway Food Bank.

This position is based out of Florida Gateway Food Bank at 553 NW Railroad St, Lake City, FL 32055. This is a time-limited position, beginning upon completion of the hiring process, and concluding on June 30, 2027. This position is funded through a grant. Continued employment is contingent upon availability of grant funding.

Position Responsibilities

1. Assist in inventory control, order picking, and warehouse maintenance.

2. Facility management to include meeting industry standards in warehousing, food handling and equipment maintenance.

3. Maintenance of correct and updated records of receipts and distribution of product reported to the Warehouse Manager and Product Manager.

4. Assist with inventory control, quality control, and other duties ascribed by the appropriate team members.

5. Follow First-In, First-Out (FIFO) procedures to ensure product safety.

6. Ensure compliance with OSHA, USDA, Florida Department of Agricultural and Consumer Services and Second Harvest of the Big Bend policies and procedures.

7. Obtain, review, implement, and sign off on those responsibilities pertaining to warehouse practices as outlined by Second Harvest of the Bia Bend and any manuals deemed pertinent by supervisor

8. Establish rapport with representatives of food donors and vendors.

9. Maintain proper storage separation of food and non-food items.

10. Assist with weighing of product, loading and unloading at warehouses

11. Communicate suggestions ideas, improvements and other constructive feedback to management.

12. Continuously check products for expiration dates, any signs of contamination, or other signs of unsafe distribution.

13. Perform sanitation duties as assigned.

14. Perform daily cleaning duties to include sweeping all areas of warehouse (dry, cooler, freezer).

15. Dumping trash and cardboard daily.

16. Clean trash and food cans weekly.

17. Collaborate with Florida Gateway Food Bank and SHBB staff to maintain efficient food distribution operations and inventory management.

18. Assist with special food distributions, disaster response activities, and rural food access initiatives as assigned.

19. Maintain accurate inventory, distribution, and warehouse records in compliance with organizational and grant requirements.

20. Maintain positive working relationships with partner agencies, donors, volunteers, vendors, and community stakeholders.

21. Attend required training and perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications (knowledge, skills, abilities, competencies)

1. High School Diploma or equivalent.

2. Ability to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.

3. Ability to lift and carry weight in accordance with OSHA standards.

4. Ability to communicate and interact with a wide variety of people.

5. Basic Math skills and record

6. Ability to successfully complete training pertaining to the safe operation of warehouse equipment and machinery.

7. Ability to prepare written reports accurately

8. Capable of working under pressure, completing various assignments responsibly and in a timely manner

9. Drug screening, and background checks are required.

10. Available for random testing to ensure safety.

11. Background Check and Drug Screening Required.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust and focus.
