Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Dietary Cook to join our compassionate healthcare team. In this vital role, you will assist in preparing and serving nutritious meals tailored to the dietary needs of our residents, ensuring a positive dining experience. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will contribute to the overall well-being and satisfaction of our residents, especially those in assisted living and nursing home environments. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your culinary skills while making a meaningful difference in the lives of geriatric patients.

Duties

Assist with food preparation, cooking, and meal assembly in accordance with dietary requirements and safety standards.
Serve meals to residents, ensuring proper portioning, presentation, and adherence to individual dietary restrictions.
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and dining areas following state food safety protocols and standards.
Operate kitchen equipment safely, including ovens, mixers, and food handling tools, while practicing proper sanitation procedures.
Support food production processes by assisting with inventory management, food handling, and storage practices.
Adhere to workplace safety guidelines, including manual handling techniques and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Assist with bussing tables, cleaning dining areas, and ensuring a welcoming environment for residents during meal times.
Collaborate effectively with dietary staff, nursing teams, and other healthcare professionals to meet residents’ nutritional needs.
Follow all health regulations related to food safety, sanitation, and safe lifting practices for heavy or bulky items.

Experience

Previous experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or the food industry is highly preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations.
Familiarity with dietary department procedures including adhering to dietary restrictions and nutrition guidelines.
Experience working with geriatric patients or in a healthcare setting is advantageous.
Strong time management skills to handle meal prep schedules efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality.
Basic math skills for portion control and inventory management.
Customer service orientation with a caring attitude towards residents’ comfort and satisfaction.
Certification in CPR and knowledge of workplace safety protocols are desirable but not mandatory; training can be provided for the right candidate.
