Junior Accountant (w/Construction Industry) - $55K-$80K, Commerce City, CO

Hybrid working schedule (Mon-Fri, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Accountant with 2–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience managing Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, bank reconciliations, sales tax remittance, and cash flow activities while working with Acumatica ERP. This role requires strong organizational skills, accuracy, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

Account Receivable

Prepare and issue customer invoices accurately and on time.
Monitor customer accounts and follow up on outstanding balances.
Process customer payments and apply receipts to the appropriate invoices.
Reconcile customer accounts and resolve billing discrepancies.
Assist with monthly AR reporting and aging analysis.

Accounts Payable

Process vendor invoices and ensure proper coding and approvals.
Prepare weekly payment runs, including checks, ACH, and wire transfers.
Reconcile vendor statements and resolve payment discrepancies.
Ensure compliance with company purchasing and payment policies.

Bank Reconciliation

Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies between bank statements and accounting records.
Record journal entries related to banking transactions.
Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.

Cash Flow Management

Monitor daily cash balances and prepare cash position reports.
Assist in forecasting short-term cash requirements.
Track incoming receipts and outgoing payments to support cash planning.
Coordinate with project managers and finance staff to ensure adequate funding for projects.

ERP & Accounting Systems

Maintain accurate financial records using Acumatica ERP.
Enter accounting transactions and maintain supporting documentation.
Generate financial and operational reports as required.

General Accounting and city sales tax remittances

Assist with month-end close, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
Maintain organized accounting records and documentation.
Support internal and external audits.
Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.
Sales Tax Preparation and remittances

Qualifications

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry.
Experience with Acumatica ERP is preferred.
Working knowledge of Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, bank reconciliations, and cash flow management.
Understanding of general accounting principles (GAAP).
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
