As our US operations continue to expand, we are seeking an experienced EHS Lead to join our team on a major data center project located approximately 45 minutes outside Detroit, Michigan.
The Role
The EHS Lead will take responsibility for supporting and overseeing Environmental, Health and Safety activities across the project, working closely with project leadership, contractors, subcontractors and site teams to maintain the highest standards of health and safety throughout construction and project delivery.
This is a senior site-based position requiring someone who is confident operating in a fast-paced construction environment, engaging directly with senior stakeholders and taking a proactive approach to identifying and managing risk.
The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience working on large-scale data center, mission-critical, advanced manufacturing or similarly complex construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee day-to-day EHS activities across the project.
- Implement and maintain project-specific EHS plans, procedures and standards in line with client, DECI and regulatory requirements.
- Promote a strong safety culture across all project teams, contractors and subcontractors.
- Conduct regular site inspections, safety walks and audits to identify hazards, unsafe practices and areas for improvement.
- Monitor contractor and subcontractor compliance with project EHS requirements.
- Review risk assessments, method statements, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and other safety documentation.
- Lead and participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, inductions and EHS training activities.
- Support project teams with the planning and safe execution of high-risk construction activities.
- Monitor activities including electrical works, mechanical installations, lifting operations, working at height, confined spaces, energization and other critical construction activities.
- Lead or support the investigation of incidents, near misses and safety observations, ensuring appropriate corrective and preventative actions are implemented.
- Maintain accurate EHS records, reports, inspection documentation and project safety statistics.
- Track EHS performance, trends and leading and lagging indicators, communicating findings to project leadership.
- Liaise directly with client representatives, project leadership, contractors and other senior stakeholders on EHS matters.
- Ensure appropriate emergency response procedures are established, communicated and maintained.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and identify opportunities to strengthen EHS performance across the project.
- Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA regulations and relevant federal, state and local requirements.
- Act as a visible EHS presence on site, engaging regularly with field teams and reinforcing safe working practices.
About You
We are looking for an experienced EHS professional who is comfortable taking ownership of safety on a large, complex construction project and who can build strong working relationships across all levels of a project team.
Ideally, you will have:
- Significant experience in an EHS, HSE or Safety leadership position within construction, engineering or mission-critical environments.
- Previous data center construction experience is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and US construction safety requirements.
- Experience managing EHS across large-scale construction projects involving multiple contractors and subcontractors.
- Strong understanding of construction hazards and high-risk activities.
- Experience conducting site inspections, audits, incident investigations and risk assessments.
- Ability to review and challenge contractor safety documentation and working practices.
- Strong communication and leadership skills with the confidence to engage directly with senior project and client stakeholders.
- Strong organisational, reporting and documentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and constantly evolving project environment.
- Relevant EHS qualifications, certifications or degree-level education.
- OSHA 30 certification is highly desirable.
- CSP, CHST or equivalent professional safety certification would be an advantage.

This is a full-time, site-based position located approximately 45 minutes outside Detroit, Michigan.
Pay: $130,000.00 - $170,000.00 per year
