Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in clinical assisting, patient care, and dental procedures, with a focus on maintaining a welcoming and efficient environment. As a Dental Assistant, you will support dentists in delivering high-quality dental treatments, ensure adherence to infection control protocols, and manage patient interactions with professionalism and compassion. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to comprehensive oral health care while developing your expertise in various dental specialties.

Duties

Assist dentists during a wide range of procedures including general dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary dental equipment, and ensuring all supplies are available for scheduled procedures.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), including intraoral and extraoral images, utilizing digital imaging systems such as 3D scanners when applicable.
Manage patient records accurately within electronic medical records (EMR) systems like Dentrix Ascend, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize workflow efficiency and patient comfort.
Monitor vital signs and assist in medical documentation for patients requiring medical history updates or pre-procedure assessments.
Maintain strict infection prevention management by adhering to dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques in accordance with clinical confidentiality policies.
Support patient management by providing education on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions.
Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist, managing patient flow, and updating medical documentation using patient management software like Epic or similar platforms.
Ensure all dental instruments are properly processed and sterilized following infection control standards to uphold safety protocols.

Experience

Prior experience working as a Dental Assistant in a fast-paced dental clinic environment is required.
Proficiency in using EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation is essential.
Demonstrated knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures across various specialties including pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and general dentistry.
Familiarity with dental equipment operation including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other diagnostic tools is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control practices along with aseptic techniques is necessary to ensure patient safety.
Ability to perform dental instrument processing efficiently while maintaining strict sterilization standards.
Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients of all ages, especially pediatric patients when applicable.
Knowledge of medical coding and documentation standards relevant to dental procedures is advantageous but not mandatory.
