Tax & Financial Planning Associate — CPA / EA

Hall Capital Management | Barrington, Rhode Island

Hall Capital Management is seeking a Tax & Financial Planning Associate to join our growing wealth management practice. This is a unique opportunity for a CPA or Enrolled Agent who enjoys tax work but is also interested in developing broader expertise in personal financial planning and wealth management.

The ideal candidate will combine strong tax knowledge with an interest in working directly with individuals and families on their broader financial lives. The role will initially have a meaningful focus on tax preparation and tax planning, while also supporting our advisors with retirement planning, cash flow analysis, estate planning coordination, investment-related tax strategy, and other financial planning work.

Over time, we expect this individual to become an important part of our client advisory team.

Responsibilities

Prepare and review individual federal and state income tax returns
Assist clients with year-round tax planning and projections
Identify tax-planning opportunities within client investment and financial plans
Work alongside portfolio managers and advisors to integrate tax considerations into investment decisions
Assist with retirement planning, Roth conversions, required minimum distributions, charitable giving strategies, and other planning matters
Prepare financial planning analyses and client meeting materials
Review client financial information, tax returns, investment accounts, retirement plans, and estate documents
Coordinate with clients' outside attorneys, accountants, and other professionals when appropriate
Participate in client meetings and gradually develop direct client relationships
Help develop and improve the firm's tax and financial planning capabilities

Qualifications

CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation
Experience preparing individual income tax returns
Strong understanding of personal income taxation
Interest in financial planning, investments, and wealth management
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to communicate financial and tax concepts clearly to clients
Comfortable working collaboratively in a small, professional team environment
High level of discretion and professionalism when handling confidential client information

Financial planning experience is preferred but not required. We are particularly interested in candidates who have built a foundation in public accounting or tax preparation and would like to broaden their career beyond traditional tax compliance.

Experience with financial planning software, investment accounts, trusts, estates, retirement plans, or high-net-worth individual taxation is a plus.
