Full Job Description

Hart's Turkey Farm Restaurant, a 3rd generation family owned restaurant and caterer in Meredith, NH, is looking for a Scratch Production Baker to join our team.

The baker will prepare different types of breads and a wide range of pastries, cookies, cakes and pies. Baker responsibilities also include starting work early in the morning, mixing dough, preparing fillings and icing and decorating cakes using creative techniques. To be successful in this role, you should have previous experience as a production baker or similar roll. Ultimately, you will make sure we offer fresh, delicious, homemade baked goods to our customers on a daily basis utilizing your own passion, creativity, and consistency to succeed.

Responsibilities

Assist with the complete preparation and production of all baked goods for restaurant service, retail items, and specialty catering events
Be able to start work early in the morning, typically 7am
Clean kitchen equipment and tools before and after each use
Follow recipes, production guidelines, and communicate inventory needs to fellow bakery employees
Weigh flour and other ingredients to prepare dough
Bake a variety of breads, including our famous rolls and cornbread daily
Adjust oven temperatures and timing to ensure proper baking
Mix various ingredients to create fillings for cakes and pies
Decorate cakes with glazes, icings, buttercream and edible toppings, like flowers
Prepare custom-made pastries based on customers’ preferences (e.g. birthday cakes)
Follow and maintain estimated daily and weekly inventory requirements, follow product pars, and replenish as necessary
Bring creativity, quality, and consistency to both the bakery and the restaurant.
Seasonally update department products with new and creative baked goods and desserts.

Skills

Familiarity with all professional kitchen equipment, including mixers and blenders.
Support the maintenance and care of bakery equipment, supplies, and materials in a manner which promotes efficiency, health, and safety.
Understanding of food safety practices
Experience with cake decoration techniques
Excellent time-management skills
Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced, high volume environment
Team spirit, with a customer-focused attitude

Requirements

At least one year baking experience in a professional setting
Preferred degree in Baking and Pastry Arts
Cake decorating experience preferred
Flexibility to work early morning shifts, weekends, holidays, and other busy times dictated by the restaurant business needs.
Must be able to withstand the physical demands of the job (ability to lift 50lbs, stand for 8 hours)
ServSafe Certification or able to become certified upon hire
