Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly adaptable Compliance Officer to support and strengthen our organization's compliance program from an off-site office location. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC), Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA), Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF), HIPAA, and other applicable federal and state regulations. Responsibilities include conducting clinical chart audits, monitoring therapist documentation, overseeing staff training compliance, coordinating regulatory readiness activities, and supporting continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct clinical chart audits to ensure documentation accuracy, completeness, and compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC), AHCA, DCF, and payer requirements
Audit therapist, nursing, and clinical documentation for adherence to regulatory and accreditation standards
Monitor employee compliance with required training, certifications, licensure, and annual competencies
Coordinate internal audits and mock surveys to ensure ongoing regulatory readiness
Identify compliance risks and develop corrective action plans in collaboration with department leadership
Monitor compliance with HIPAA, confidentiality, and healthcare privacy regulations
Assist with policy and procedure development, review, and updates to align with regulatory changes
Prepare documentation and reports for regulatory surveys, inspections, and accreditation visits
Track corrective actions and ensure timely resolution of audit findings
Collaborate with leadership to maintain continuous survey readiness
Perform additional compliance-related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Business Administration, or related field preferred
Minimum 2 years of healthcare compliance experience, preferably in behavioral health or substance use disorder treatment
Working knowledge of The Joint Commission Behavioral Health Care standards, AHCA regulations, DCF requirements, and HIPAA
Experience conducting clinical chart audits and documentation reviews
Familiarity with accreditation surveys, corrective action plans, and regulatory inspections
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with clinical and executive leadership
