Full Job Description

Outside Sales Representative, Foodservice

$90,000 to $100,000 Base Salary | $5,000 to $20,000 Bonus Potential | Established Book of Business

Schneider’s Seafood + Meats is seeking a proven Outside Sales Representative to manage and grow an established customer base throughout Western New York.

This is not an entry level position, and you will not be starting from zero.

You will take over a solid book of top tier and mid tier accounts with significant existing business while expanding current accounts and developing new relationships.

Starting salary is $90,000 to $100,000 based on experience and demonstrated sales success, plus annual bonus potential of $5,000 to $20,000.

We are looking for an experienced salesperson with a proven record of managing relationships, growing accounts and developing new business.

Schneider’s Seafood + Meats has been family owned and operated in Western New York since 1909.

We are not a broadline distributor trying to sell everything to everyone. We specialize in proteins.

Our focus is seafood, meat and the specialty products that support those categories. Rather than knowing a little about thousands of unrelated SKUs, our team develops deep expertise in the products we sell.

We understand quality, specifications, sourcing, yields, applications, availability and changing markets. That expertise allows our salespeople to bring real value to chefs and purchasing professionals, rather than simply take orders.

When you make a commitment to a customer, you need an operation behind you that can execute.

Your job is to sell, build relationships and grow business, not spend your day fixing shorts, delivery problems or preventable operational issues.

Compensation and Benefits

· $90,000 to $100,000 starting salary, based on experience and proven sales success

· $5,000 to $20,000 annual performance bonus potential

· $150 per week automobile and cell phone allowance

· Company provided laptop

· Paid weekly

· $4,000 annual employer contribution toward health insurance when coverage is elected

· SIMPLE IRA with 3% employer contribution after 90 days

· $25,000 employer paid life insurance after 90 days

· Employer paid long term disability insurance after 90 days

· Six paid holidays after 90 days

· Vacation and sick time accrue from hire and may be used after 90 days

Local Territory with Schedule Flexibility

This is a Western New York sales position with no overnight travel or travel outside the market. You will be home every weeknight and weekend.

Our office operates Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, but outside sales is not a 7:00 to 3:00 desk job.

Representatives typically begin their day in the office before heading into the field and may begin directly from home if a full day is planned.

Successful salespeople manage their schedules around their customers and opportunities.

We care about results, customer relationships and follow through, not watching a clock.

What You’ll Do

· Manage and grow an established book of accounts

· Build relationships with chefs, owners, general managers and purchasing professionals

· Increase sales within existing accounts

· Develop new business throughout Western New York

· Use product and market knowledge to help customers make better purchasing decisions

· Introduce customers to seafood, meat and specialty products

· Maintain regular customer contact and professional follow up

· Work closely with purchasing, customer service and management

· Stay informed on product availability, pricing and market conditions

Minimum Qualifications

· Minimum 3 years of successful outside sales, account management or business development experience

· Demonstrated track record of growing sales and maintaining customer relationships

· Experience independently managing a book of business or sales territory

· Strong communication, organization and follow up

· Self motivated and comfortable working independently

· Professional, dependable and customer focused

· Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Strongly Preferred

· Foodservice distribution sales experience

· Restaurant, culinary, seafood or meat industry experience

· Existing relationships within the Western New York foodservice market

· Experience selling directly to chefs, restaurant owners, country clubs, hotels or purchasing managers
