Buffalo, NY | Direct Hire | Full-Time | Hybrid (2 days/week in office)

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

This is a great entry point for someone with a technical mindset and SQL experience who wants to grow into a financial systems and application administration career. You just need curiosity, the ability to learn, and enough SQL foundation to hit the ground running!

You'll be joining a small, experienced team at a well-established Buffalo firm, supporting the firm's core financial management platform and a handful of integrated third-party applications. The team is mid-migration to a cloud environment, so this is an interesting time to get involved — there's real project work ahead alongside the day-to-day.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

Serving as day-to-day support for the firm's financial management system — processing new hires and departures, handling front-end configuration changes, and resolving incoming service tickets
Using SQL to query databases, look up and manipulate data, and make back-end changes that can't be handled through the front end
Working with departments across the firm to understand their needs and translate them into system changes or customizations
Prior to Cloud migration, will help manage and maintain the servers that host the financial applications (6+ servers), with support from a senior database engineer for the heavy lifting
Coordinating with third-party vendors to troubleshoot issues and get up to speed on the platform
Supporting integrations with related applications that manage expenses/file closing and collections
Participating in the firm's ongoing migration from on-premises to cloud-hosted applications
Documenting procedures, system changes, and workflows

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Working knowledge of SQL — you should be comfortable querying a database, understanding table relationships, and performing data lookups and updates. You don't need to be a wizard; you need a real foundation.
A self-starter mentality — someone who can work with vendor support and run with what they learn, without needing to be hand-held through every step
Strong communication skills — this team interfaces with nearly every department in the firm. Customer service mindset and responsiveness are critical
Ability to work independently and manage your own queue
