Full Job Description

Staft Accountant

Industrial redevelopment company seeks a staff accountant to join our team to process

accounts receivable and accounts payable. Must be comfortable working in a team

environment and communicating with customers and management. Proficiency in excel

spreadsheets and QuickBooks required.

Accounts Receivable Responsibilities (Scrap Material)

Apply customer payments accurately and reconcile against shipments, weights, and
pricing.
Verify settlement amounts against agreed terms.
Communicate with customers on a daily basis regarding loads and costs
Track and communicate expected receipts to management
Monitor aging receivables, follow up on outstanding balances, and resolve discrepancies
with customers.
Coordinate with the scale house, dispatch, and operation teams to confirm tonnage and
material classifications.
Maintain accurate customer records in excel and prepare AR aging reports
Accounts Payable Responsibilities
Receive vendor invoices and match against purchase orders and packing slips, verifying
quantities, pricing, and terms before processing
Communicate regularly with jobsite supervisors and field staff regarding PO variances,
delivery discrepancies, and missing documentation, and resolve invoice issues directly
with vendors
Serve as the primary point of contact between the field and the office on invoice-related
matters, ensuring timely follow-up on outstanding items
Code and enter invoices into QuickBooks with correct job, cost code, and general ledger
allocations
Track and manage invoice approval workflows, ensuring proper sign-off before payment
Monitor invoice due dates and vendor terms to capture early-payment discounts and
avoid l a t e f e e s
Cut checks, process electronic payments, and prepare and file complete invoice packets
Maintain organized vendor files, including W-9s and current contact and insurance
i n f o r m a t i o n
Reconcile vendor statements monthly and research and resolve any discrepancies or
past-due balances
Communicate with vendors regarding payment status, disputes, and account setup
Assist with month-end close by ensuring invoices are entered in the correct period and
providing accrual information as needed

Skills and Education:

Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or equivalent field required.
Minimum two (2) years' accounting or finance experience required. Experience tracking
and accounting for scrap material preferred
Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or ERP system required.
Advanced Microsoft Excel and Office skills required.
Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent organizational and time management.
Ability to work in a team environment and independently
High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
