Project Manager / Estimator - Sitework.

Dan Lafferty Construction Inc. (LCI) is currently accepting applications for an

experienced Project Manager / Estimator to provide project estimating and contract

management for civil construction contracts throughout Idaho and neighboring states.

Blasting experience is a plus but is not required. LCI will provide direct oversight,

continued education and mentoring to the successful candidate The position is based in

Wendell, ID.

LCI has been providing drilling and blasting services for construction and quarry work,

rock trenching and crushing services for our customers for more than 30 years.

This position is expected to source, estimate and manage assigned projects and

communicate all pertinent information to operations for project build out. The ideal

candidate for this position will act as the primary customer contact for assigned projects

and communicate all project details and information to the Operations Manager for

project buildout. In addition, the position will lead the implementation of GPS and

software selection to design project site overlays and blast design layout. This position

will spend approximately 50% of the time in the office and 50% time in the field on

project sites.

Responsibilities.

The position reports directly to the General Manager and is accountable for all work as assigned.
Efficient time management and proven management skills are required
Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications as they apply to our scope of work, manage all project submittal and reporting requirements.
Maintain and organize project files for all work-related items
Provide project bidding estimates to General Manager for review and submittal, solicit new work to bid and develop new customer relationships while maintaining existing customer relationships in a professional manner. Assist with other tasks as assigned by the General Manager.
Assist in designing and submitting blast and work plans for approval.
Cost estimating
Provide all project management functions as required and provide effective communication to Operations.
Maintain and develop customer contacts and relationships
Ensure quality and compliance with high standards of work meeting or exceeding the expectations of our customers.
Reporting and tracking project status
Limited travel (overnight) is required.
Assist General Manager with recruiting, training and educating employees in proper operating procedures and techniques.
Provide input to General Manager as requested regarding future company growth, technology advancements etc.

Qualifications.

Bachelor’s degree in construction management or equivalent experience in civil construction is preferred but not required, adequate field experience and previous employment in a similar position are acceptable. Civil Construction with emphasis placed on site excavation, utility installation, blasting, trenching techniques or similar is preferred.
Qualified candidates need not have experience in drilling and blasting but must have a thorough understanding of civil construction to be effective in this position.
Verifiable experience in construction project management is required.
Time management, decision making abilities and strong communication skills are required.
Insurable driving record and approved ATF/FBI background checks are required for this position.
This position has direct contact with our customers and requires a professional attitude and a positive approach to problem solving.
Previous experience in a similar construction management role is required.
Familiarity with the local construction market, developers and contractors are preferred but not required.
LCI is based in Wendell, ID however work assignments out of town are needed.
