Full Job Description

Renaissance Genuine Solid Bronze is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist & Custom Fabricator to join our manufacturing team in San Antonio, Texas. We design and build custom architectural bronze windows, doors, shower enclosures, wine cellars, and related components.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about machining, enjoys custom project-based work, and takes pride in producing high-quality, detail-sensitive parts. The right candidate will be able to take a complete solid model and shop drawings, create machining programs from scratch, set up the work, machine the parts, verify accuracy, and complete final fabrication and fit-up.

This is not a repetitive production role. Our work consists of multiple custom projects moving through production, with each project having its own drawings, details, and requirements. The position requires a strong mix of CNC machining, CAM programming, manual fabrication, fixture machining, layout, fitting, tapping, deburring, and problem-solving. The primary metals this role will be working with are Bronze and Aluminum with other materials used as needed.

Responsibilities

Work inside Autodesk Inventor and InventorCAM to create, modify, and manage machining programs. Including creating programs from parts provided in solid models, shop drawings, and project details.
Operate a MultiCam CNC router, Haas CNC machining center, CNC mill, manual mill, saws, drill presses, tapping equipment, deburring tools, and related shop equipment.
Take parts from solid model through CAM programming, setup, machining, inspection, and finished component within project-specific tolerances, commonly within a few thousandths of an inch depending on the part.
Set up machines, select proper tooling, establish workholding, and adjust feeds, speeds, offsets, and machining strategies as needed.
Read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, dimensions, tolerances, notes, and assembly details.
Fabricate and machine custom fixtures, jigs, stops, templates, and workholding components from provided solid models and raw material.
Perform layout, drilling, tapping, countersinking, deburring, hand fitting, and finish-sensitive fabrication work including final assembly on projects.
Coordinate with the drafting team and project management team to understand project details, drawing intent, priorities, and workload.
Identify potential manufacturability issues and communicate them clearly before or during production.
Maintain organized tooling, fixtures, programs, materials, and work areas.
Follow all shop safety procedures and maintain a clean, professional, and safe shop environment.

Required Skills and Experience

Experience with creating CNC and CAM programs, preferably with Inventor and InventorCAM or similar CAM software.
Ability to work in Autodesk Inventor or similar 3D modeling software.
Experience operating CNC machining centers, CNC routers, CNC mills, and manual mills.
Experience with manual metal fabrication, layout, fitting, drilling, tapping, countersinking, and deburring.
Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, tolerances, and assembly details.
Strong understanding of tooling, workholding, feeds, speeds, offsets, and machining sequence.
Ability to machine custom metal parts to tight tolerances, often within a few thousandths of an inch.
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability.
High attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship.
Ability to manage multiple small custom projects moving through production.
Ability to work well with drafting, project management, and production team members.
Reliable, organized, safety-conscious, and able to work in a custom shop environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience machining bronze, brass, copper alloys, aluminum, or other non-ferrous metals.
Experience with MultiCam CNC routers.
Experience with Haas CNC machining centers.
Experience with InventorCAM.
Ability to edit G-code when needed.
Experience in custom architectural metalwork, specialty fabrication, windows, doors, hardware, or high-end custom manufacturing.
Experience making fixtures, jigs, stops, and workholding components from provided models or drawings.
Comfort working on low-volume, high-detail, project-based parts rather than repetitive production runs.

Tools and Equipment

All required tools will be provided by Renaissance. Candidates are not required to bring their own tools.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a hands-on machinist and fabricator who enjoys custom work, understands that details matter, and takes pride in making parts correctly. This person should be able to move confidently between CAM programming, CNC machining, manual machining, fixture machining, layout, fitting, and final fabrication support.

We are looking for someone who is technically capable, dependable, curious, humble, team-oriented, and passionate about the craft of machining. A strong candidate will enjoy solving one-off manufacturing challenges and will be comfortable working in a project-based environment where each job is unique.
