Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated Customer Service & Production Technician to join our family-owned manufacturing company. This unique role combines technical customer support with hands-on manufacturing responsibilities. You will work directly with customers to troubleshoot equipment, answer technical questions, and provide exceptional service. Some days will also include assembling, testing, calibrating, packaging, and shipping the electronic greenhouse control products we manufacture.
Because we are a small business, every team member wears multiple hats. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside our Engineering, Production, and Customer Service teams, gaining experience throughout the entire product lifecycle—from building products on the production line to supporting customers in the field.
This position is ideal for graduates of an Electronics Technology, Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, Industrial Technology, or related technical program who enjoy troubleshooting, working with electronics, and interacting with customers. If you have a solid foundation in electronic circuits, semiconductor devices, analog electronics, and electrical troubleshooting, this role offers an opportunity to apply those skills in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional phone and email support to all customers.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and guide customers through diagnostics, programming, and basic repairs.
- Assist customers with product setup, operation, and configuration.
- Document customer interactions, technical issues, and resolutions.
- Escalate complex technical issues to Engineering while providing timely follow-up to customers.
- Identify recurring customer issues and collaborate with Engineering to improve products and documentation.
- Deliver exceptional customer service while building strong customer relationships.
Production & Technical Operations
- Assemble kiln and greenhouse control products and electronic assemblies according to work instructions and quality standards.
- Perform functional testing, calibration, and quality inspections of finished products.
- Troubleshoot electronic assemblies and identify defective components or wiring issues.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, and technical documentation.
- Assist Engineering with prototype builds, product testing, research and development (R&D), and continuous product improvements.
- Build products on the production line while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Package finished products for shipment, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
- Maintain accurate production, testing, and service documentation.
- Support manufacturing and other departments to help meet customer and production deadlines.
Qualifications
- Associate degree or diploma in Electronics Technology, Electrical Technology, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field preferred. Equivalent technical experience will also be considered.
- Working knowledge of direct current (DC) and alternating current (AC) electrical circuits and fundamental electrical theory.
- Understanding of semiconductor circuit analysis, including the applications of diodes, bipolar junction transistors (BJTs), and field-effect transistors (FETs).
- Knowledge of linear integrated circuits, including operational amplifiers (op-amps) and analog electronic circuits.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, and technical documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to work with hand tools and electronic test equipment.
- Comfortable using computers and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
Preferred Experience
Experience with one or more of the following is a plus:
- Electronics assembly, testing, or manufacturing.
- Diagnosing and troubleshooting electronic or electromechanical equipment.
- Using electronic test equipment such as digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power supplies.
- PLCs, industrial controls, sensors, or industrial automation.
- Soldering, component replacement, and electronic repair.
- Technical customer service or field service experience.
- Quality control, production testing, shipping, or manufacturing processes.
