GENERAL SUMMARY
The Purchasing & Inventory Specialist will be responsible for ordering materials, supplies, equipment purchases and rentals. The position will follow through with vendors on shipment and delivery schedules, assisting the Purchasing Manager as directed to maintain proper inventory levels. Additionally, this position will be responsible for performing warehouse related activities including loading and unloading trucks and pick-up and delivery of parts assisting in expediting deliveries as well as assisting in the delivery schedule of consigned materials. This person will assist in the vendor bidding process that will include vendor communication of company policies and objectives to ensure service, quality and cost goals. This role will prepare essential reports and provide administrative and warehousing support services as directed to ensure effective communication to vendors as well as internal customers. The role will work under general supervision where routine duties are performed with minimal supervision. Standard practices or procedures allow the employee to proceed alone at routine work. There is occasional check of work while in progress and work is reviewed upon completion. Typical work hours are Monday to Friday, some Saturdays 7:00am to 4:00pm. Occasional overtime may be required in this position. Good judgment and common sense is required in all duties and any other tasks assigned. Minimal overnight travel (up to 10%) may be required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Complies with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Reports all unsafe conditions and actions to a supervisor and/or Manager Safety and Health.
2. Maintains a clean and orderly work area and meets other housekeeping needs as required by Sunrock, MSHA 30 CFR 56.20003, and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.22.
3. Examine shipment contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy.
4. Requisition and store shipping materials and supplies to maintain inventory of stock.
5. Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, damages, or discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, or recordkeeping purposes.
6. Keep records of items shipped, received, or transferred to various Sunrock locations.
7. Compile reports on various aspects of changes in production or inventory.
8. Find, sort, or move goods between different parts of the business.

11. Safely operate forklift to load / unload trucks and put parts & materials on storage racks.
12. Safely operate flatbed truck (non-CDL) to pick-up and deliver parts throughout the
Raleigh-Durham and surrounding area.
13. Acts as custodian of the Computerized Maintenance Management Information System software (CMMIS), maintaining an orderly flow of work orders, mechanics’ time, purchase orders, and stock requisitions through CMMIS, while handling routine deviations from established procedures on his/her own and reporting exception deviations to the Vice President Plant & Equipment Services.
14. Accurately processes purchase orders in a timely and effective manner based on need by dates and order quantities.
15. Review vendor order confirmation for accuracy and follow up on any discrepancies.
16. Arranges freight and manages trucking arrangements.
17. Negotiate pricing and terms for goods and services.
18. Assist in solicitation of bids including compiling the data for comparison and review of the requestor.
19. Contact vendors to schedule or expedite deliveries, resolve shortages, missed or late deliveries or other issues.
20. Create and deactivate items.
21. Work with Accounts Payable, ensure accuracy of purchase requisition to invoice.
22. Basic filing and recordkeeping.
23. Assist in the preparation of KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) as directed by the Purchasing Manager.
24. Assist with physical inventories.
25. Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
26. Administers the records retention and destruction procedures for your department according to the retention schedule outlined in the Records Management Program Manual.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred; or one (1) year to two (2) years of related experience and/or training working in warehousing, inventory control or related industry required. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Current North Carolina Driver’s License required
