We are seeking an experienced Electronics Field Technician to join our team. You will be based out of our Boise, ID office. Travel and overnight stays are required 100% of the time with a typical shift being four-tens but could be longer depending on needs. Travel will be throughout the entire state of Idaho with the possibility of including Utah, Wyoming, Montana, Washington, Oregon, California, and Nevada.
This position installs, repairs and maintains electronic equipment such as roadside weather stations, dynamic message boards, traffic monitoring devices, sensors, communications/networking equipment, CCTV, computers, industrial controls, audio, and video systems, transmitters, and antennas by performing the following duties:
Pay Range: $28/HR - $30/HR
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Strong initiative, organizational abilities, attention to detail, and completeness.
- Ability to work independently.
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to work with Common Hand Tools, Digital Multi-Meters, Earth Ground Meggers, and any additional electronic test equipment.
- Tests electronic components and circuits to locate defects.
- Configuration, service and troubleshooting of intelligent electronic devices via PC software or browser interface.
- Maintain and troubleshoot low voltage DC power systems and associated cabling.
- Maintenance of support structures such as towers, poles, and outdoor cabinets.
- Replaces defective components and wiring and adjusts mechanical parts.
- Aligns adjusts and calibrates equipment according to specifications.
- Maintains records of repairs, calibrations, and tests and enters them into the system.
- Discusses layout and assembly procedures and problems with the team and draws sketches to clarify design details and functional criteria of electronic units.
- Recommends changes in circuitry or installation specifications to simplify or improve assembly and maintenance.
- Analyzes and interprets test data.
- Checks functioning of newly installed equipment.
- Works outdoors, independently or in a group setting in all weather conditions, year-round.
- Work off highways, on shoulders with occasional roadway closures and near traffic moving at high speeds.
- Capable and willing to perform work at heights on a pole(s)/tower, climbing via the safe use of ladders, or Safety Climb Systems and bucket trucks.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Associates or bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering Technology a plus.
- Basic Electronic Fundamentals
- Field Service Background highly desired
- Intermediate-to Advanced Computer Skills
- Intermediate Computer Networking Knowledge
- Ability to write technical reports and correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to clients, and team members.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly working near traffic. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Working six to twelve hours per day is common while being exposed to weather, dust, and construction site hazards.
