The Idaho Department of Fish and Game is currently seeking a Volunteer Services Coordinator at our Southwest Regional Office in Nampa.

Pre-Employment Requirement:

Responsibilities:
- Recruit, train, and manage a skilled volunteer workforce to assist Department staff and accomplish agency goals, leveraging existing department volunteer streams.
- Coordinate volunteer opportunities with sporting groups and other mission-aligned NGO's.
- Develop and maintain the Reservist program - a smaller, highly capable, vetted volunteer corp.
- Proactively solicit volunteer projects from staff across all regional programs and coordinate volunteer support for regional fish and wildlife management work.
- Develop, coordinate and implement region-wide volunteer and Reservist application processes and training programs.
- Manage regional volunteer program budgets and expenses.
- Serve as the volunteer program's system of record: maintain meticulous records and reports on volunteer hours, performance, supervision, documentation, and workers' compensation administration.
- Directly organize and implement the Angler Education program in Southwest Idaho - including the 'Take Me Fishing!' Field Trip program - with a strong emphasis on volunteer involvement.
- In collaboration with the Hunter Education Volunteer Services Coordinator, organize and implement an integrated volunteer conference that serves as a training and calibration opportunity, and as the primary incentive and recognition program for all regional volunteers.
- Oversee regional administration of the shooting range grant program.
Minimum Qualifications:
(All qualifications listed below are required. - Experience planning, developing, and maintaining programs to utilize volunteer workers. (Typically gained where you are responsible for the setting of goals, developing plans to meet these goals and successfully directed the implementation of the plan to utilize volunteers workers. This experience includes having authority to make decisions as to program development. Note: Experience that is limited to coordinating and implementing volunteer programs planned and developed by others will not qualify.)
- Experience utilizing community resources for recruitment of volunteers. (Typically gained by experience soliciting and gaining support from community resources such as Lions, Rotary Clubs, and Chamber of Commerce.)
- Experience supervising volunteers including interviewing, selection, and performance evaluation. (Typically gained by at least six months of experience supervising volunteers, not employees. Experience must include interviewing volunteers, selecting for tasks, and completing performance evaluations.)
- Experience training volunteer workers. (Typically gained by at least six months of related work experience with volunteers that may include orientation of volunteers, and/or establishing, monitoring, and conducting volunteer training. Experience training employees does not meet the qualifications needed for this position.)
- Experience maintaining program records (Typically gained by experience maintaining records to include goals, milestones, and end results. Note: This requires more than a final report at the end of a project, should be ongoing.)
- Experience preparing and giving oral presentations to groups. (Typically met by at least one year of experience researching, compiling, and organizing information in order to make oral presentations to groups in a business setting; topics may be informational, technical, or behavioral.

- Some knowledge of educational and training methods (Typically gained by successful completion of college coursework in education OR attending "train-the-trainer" OR teaching experience.)
The ideal candidate will have experience building or expanding a volunteer program; an established professional network within conservation organizations and/or sporting groups, with a track record of converting those relationships into volunteer projects; experience managing a selective volunteer program in which volunteers are screened, trained to defined standards, and entrusted with greater responsibility; and administering grants or program budgets. Familiarity with hunting, fishing, and shooting sports is a plus.
