DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?
The ideal candidate will be based out of the Central Engineering team, to provide technical knowledge and skills to assist maintenance and production personnel site-wide in the implementation of equipment, system, and process improvements. In addition, this team will also coordinate with third party engineering companies to support the business goals of ArcelorMittal Calvert. The Mechanical Reliability Engineer III is responsible for improving the reliability, availability, maintainability, and performance of plant assets through reliability engineering principles, data analysis, preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, and continuous improvement methodologies. The role provides technical leadership in the development and execution of equipment reliability strategies, maintenance programs, root cause investigations, and asset improvement initiatives. The incumbent collaborates closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Project, and Supply Chain teams to eliminate chronic equipment failures, reduce lifecycle costs, and support safe, reliable production. Acts as a subject matter expert in mechanical reliability and leads complex, site-wide reliability initiatives with limited supervision. Provides technical mentoring to engineers and maintenance personnel and is recognized as a key contributor to asset management strategy and long-term reliability improvement.
The Basics
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
5+ years of industrial reliability, maintenance, or engineering experience.
Experience with SAP PM or equivalent CMMS systems.
Working knowledge of RCFA, FMEA, RCM, and predictive maintenance technologies.
Experience in heavy industrial or steel manufacturing environments.
Knowledge of cranes, hydraulic systems, rotating equipment, and material handling systems.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Monitor and evaluate equipment reliability and maintenance performance.
Lead Root Cause Failure Analyses (RCFA) for significant equipment failures and recurring issues.
Facilitate Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and other reliability risk assessments.
Partner with Maintenance Planning and Operations teams to prioritize reliability-related work.
Utilize CMMS and data analytics tools to support decision-making and performance monitoring.
Develop and communicate key reliability performance indicators and improvement plans.
Provide reliability engineering support for equipment upgrades and capital projects.
Facilitate cross-functional teams focused on asset performance improvement.
Support the development of reliability competencies across the organization.
Support commissioning and startup activities of new or modified assets.
