Full Job Description

Certified Medical Assistant- Dr. Cynthia Gray, MD PC

We are seeking an experienced, dependable, and detail-oriented Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our small, one-surgeon plastic and reconstructive surgery practice. This hands-on clinical position ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with patients, supporting the surgeon, and taking ownership of the day-to-day clinical operations of a small practice. Working hours are Monday- Thursday 9-5, and Friday 9-12. On surgery days, early clock-out is permitted.

The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, compassionate, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and excellent patient care are essential.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care & Clinical Duties

Prepare patients for examinations and procedures
Provide detailed pre-operative and post-operative instructions
Perform dressing changes and provide routine post-operative wound care
Remove sutures and surgical drains as directed by the surgeon
Assist with minor office procedures and treatments
Administer Vitamin B12 and NAD+ subcutaneous injections

Minor Procedures & Clinical Room Management

Assist the surgeon during minor procedures
Prepare procedure rooms, instruments, supplies, and equipment
Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked exam and procedure rooms

Sterilization & Equipment

Clean, prepare, package, and sterilize instruments according to established protocols
Operate the autoclave/sterilizer
Perform routine monitoring, cleaning, and upkeep of the autoclave

Inventory, Implants & Supply Management

Order and maintain medical, clinical, and minor procedure supplies
Monitor inventory levels and proactively identify supply needs
Coordinate implant ordering, tracking, monitoring, and documentation
Manage the return process for explanted breast implants, including ruptured implants, according to manufacturer protocols

Administrative & Care Coordination

Complete and coordinate FMLA and other medical paperwork as appropriate
Prepare and send appropriate referrals, imaging orders, and other clinical orders at the surgeon's direction
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation

Qualifications

Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential
Experience in plastic surgery, dermatology, cosmetic medicine, surgery, or a similar specialty is strongly preferred
Comfortable assisting with minor procedures and providing post-operative care
Experience with wound care, dressing changes, suture removal, and drain removal preferred
Familiarity with sterilization procedures and autoclave operation preferred
Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
Comfortable managing inventory, ordering supplies, and maintaining accurate records
Able to maintain patient confidentiality and handle sensitive medical information appropriately
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and anticipate the needs of the surgeon
Current BLS/CPR certification preferred

Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour
