Full Job Description

Job Summary

As an experienced VOIP/Telecom Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring day-to-day operation, reliability, and integrity of the organization’s Inmate Telecommunications Systems (ITS) and associated networks. This includes implementation, maintenance and support, of all VoIP/telecom communications equipment, including servers, gateways, SBCs, and similar technologies. You should have a wide range of skills related to current VoIP and digital telephony systems, session border controllers, IP networking, and voice server administration. You must be a dedicated team player who is eager to assist the Network Operations Center in troubleshooting and fixing customer related issues. The ability to troubleshoot complex problems where analysis of situation requires in-depth knowledge of VoIP architectures is essential.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain detailed technical designs for the Inmate Telecommunications Systems and applications, with priority given to factors such as performance, scalability, and reliability
Configure and deploy SIPbased systems and applications, ensuring that they are properly integrated with other network and telephony infrastructure, such as switches, gateways, and underlying carrier endpoints
Monitor and maintain the health and performance of Inmate Telecommunications Systems and applications, using tools such as monitoring software, system logs, and performance metrics
Continuously evaluate and optimize the performance of the Inmate Telecommunications Systems and applications.
Act as a technical escalation point issues related to Inmate Telecommunications Systems and applications, using advanced troubleshooting techniques to quickly diagnose and resolve issues
Establish and maintain strong working relationships with vendors and service providers of related products and services, serving as a primary technical point of contact for communication and collaboration
Stay up to date with new and emerging standards and protocols related to the organizations systems and applications, and evaluate their potential impact on the organization's telephony infrastructure.

Qualifications:

A degree in Telecommunications, Engineering, Computer Science, or related subject.
5+ years relevant work experience additional experience in lieu of degree considered.
Expert knowledge in design, implementation, support and troubleshooting network devices to include VoIP switches, VoIP gateways, Session Border Controllers, firewalls, switches, and routers.
Extensive knowledge of SIP protocols, VoIP, and Networking technologies.
Experience with Kamailio, OpenSIPS and FreeSWITCH.
Hands on experience with Ribbon and Audio Codes SBCs.
Experience with dial plans, IVRs, SIP, RTP, DIDs, codecs and other protocols.
Solid understanding of traditional telephony, PRIs, FXS, circuitswitching, POTS, and PSTN.
Handson experience with network monitoring, network diagnostics, network analytics tools and troubleshooting with various tools such as Packet Sniffer utilities or Wireshark.
The ability to troubleshoot complex problems where analysis of situation requires indepth knowledge of VoIP architectures is essential.
Good to have knowledge/experience on VMware, AWS / Cloud based SaaS, and MS SQL
Ability to work well individually, as well as within a team environment, and maintain professional behavior with all stakeholders at all times.
