Position Summary
Frontwave Arena is seeking a creative, organized and highly motivated Senior Manager, Content Production to lead the visual storytelling efforts for one of Southern California’s fastest-growing sports and entertainment organizations.
This position will oversee content production across all Frontwave Arena properties, including the San Diego Clippers, San Diego Sockers, Sockers W, Oceanside Shock, sporting events, concerts, community events, and other live entertainment hosted at Frontwave Arena.
The Senior Manager, Content Production will be responsible for developing and executing a year-round content strategy while shooting, editing and producing high-quality video and photo content that elevates each brand, engages fans, supports ticket sales, fulfills sponsorship obligations, and tells compelling stories across digital platforms.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys both creative and operational responsibilities, and is equally comfortable behind the camera, in the editing bay and leading a production on-site. The Senior Manager, Content Production will take projects from concept through production, editing, post-production and final delivery.
This position will also play a key leadership role in annual Media Days across all teams, overseeing creative concepts, production planning, shooting, talent direction and post-production to ensure the organization captures a comprehensive library of content that can be utilized throughout the season.
This is a full-time, exempt position requiring frequent nights, weekends and holidays based on the event schedule.
Essential Responsibilities
Content Strategy & Planning
- Lead the year-round content strategy for Frontwave Arena and all affiliated sports properties.
Develop weekly and monthly content plans in collaboration with the Social Media Manager.
Build content calendars that align with marketing campaigns, ticket sales initiatives, sponsorship activations and organizational priorities.
Identify new storytelling opportunities that engage fans and strengthen each brand.
Ensure content remains consistent with established brand standards and creative direction.
Video Production
- Capture, edit and deliver high-quality video content for social media, digital marketing, advertising, sponsorships and in-venue use.
Produce a wide variety of content including behind-the-scenes features, player profiles, interviews, hype videos, promotional campaigns, event recaps, commercials and documentary-style storytelling.
Own the editing and post-production process from raw footage through final delivery, including story structure, pacing, music, sound, color correction, graphics, captions and formatting for various digital platforms.
Edit both short-form and long-form video content, adapting creative for social media, digital advertising, websites, email, in-venue screens and other platforms.
Independently take raw footage and develop polished, finished video content that aligns with the creative vision and objectives of each project.
Manage projects from concept through final delivery while meeting tight deadlines.
Maintain and organize all video assets, raw footage, project files and production materials.
Develop efficient video production and post-production workflows that allow the organization to consistently produce high-quality content.
Photography
- Capture and edit photography as needed for marketing, social media, website, sponsorship and promotional use.
Manage and organize the organization’s digital photo library.
Coordinate with freelance photographers to ensure complete coverage of events.
Creative Direction
- Lead creative planning and video production for annual Media Days across all teams.
Develop shot lists, creative concepts, interview questions and production schedules.
Direct talent during video and photo shoots to ensure consistent, high-quality content.
Coordinate production needs including cameras, lighting, audio, locations, sets and other equipment.
Oversee the capture and post-production of Media Day content, ensuring footage is organized, edited and delivered efficiently for use throughout the season.
Develop efficient Media Day editing workflows that allow content to be turned around quickly for social media, marketing campaigns, player features, sponsorships and other season-long initiatives.
Collaborate with the Sr. Graphic Designer, Creative Services Manager, Social Media Manager and Marketing team to maintain a cohesive visual identity across all platforms.
Game Day & Event Content Operations
- Lead all content production efforts during games, concerts and arena events.
Supervise freelance photographers, videographers, content creators and production assistants.
Coordinate shooting assignments and ensure timely delivery of content during and after events.
Work closely with the Social Media Manager to prioritize live content needs throughout events.
Identify opportunities to capture spontaneous, behind-the-scenes and real-time storytelling moments.
Recruit, mentor and oversee creative interns and part-time content staff.
Media & Credential Operations
- Manage credential requests for photographers, videographers, broadcasters and outside media.
Coordinate media access and shooting locations during games and events.
Serve as the primary point of contact for freelance visual media covering Frontwave Arena events.
Maintain professional working relationships with local and national media partners.
Equipment & Asset Management
- Maintain cameras, lenses, lighting, audio equipment and production accessories.
Recommend future equipment purchases and production upgrades.
Organize digital assets and ensure proper archival procedures are followed.
Maintain an efficient system for storing, labeling and retrieving raw footage, project files, photos and final content.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Broadcasting, Film, Digital Media, Marketing or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Minimum of 5 years of professional experience producing digital content, preferably within sports, entertainment or live events.
Exceptional video shooting and editing skills with a strong understanding of visual storytelling, pacing, composition, sound and post-production.
Demonstrated ability to take raw footage and independently produce polished, finished video content for multiple platforms.
Experience directing talent during interviews and promotional shoots.
Strong photography skills and proficiency with photo editing.
Demonstrated experience managing multiple creative projects simultaneously.
Experience leading freelancers, interns or creative teams.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while collaborating across departments.
Passion for sports, entertainment and live events.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, with strong knowledge of professional video editing and post-production workflows.
Experience with Adobe After Effects, Photoshop and Lightroom.
Experience producing content for professional or collegiate sports organizations.
Experience producing or leading team Media Days, photo days or large-scale content shoots.
Familiarity with Sony and Canon camera systems.
Strong understanding of professional camera, lighting and audio equipment.
Experience operating drones (FAA Part 107 certification preferred).
Understanding of live event production and broadcast operations.
Knowledge of digital asset management and content organization best practices.
Work Environment
- Frequent nights, weekends and holidays are required based on the event schedule.
Ability to stand, walk and move throughout an arena environment for extended periods.
Ability to work in fast-paced live event and production environments.
Ability to lift and transport production equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
