Our campus is located at 1601 Maple Street, Carrollton, GA 30118.

Faculty and staff members are expected to be physically present on campus as needed to support the in-person educational experience and on-campus vitality at the University of West Georgia. Depending upon teaching assignments and student demand, this could include the Carrollton or Newnan campuses.

Job Summary

The UWG Foundations Controller is the assistant manager of the Advancement Services Department, and serves as controller to the three institutionally related foundations in Advancement Services care: UWG Foundation, Inc. and subsidiaries (UWGF), UWG Real Estate Foundation (UWGREF) and subsidiaries, and UGW Athletic Foundation (UWGAF), collectively "the UWG Foundations". As such responsibilities include, but are not limited to, accounting and financial reporting functions of the Foundations; cash management and monthly reconciliations; departmental staff engagement, development and management; oversight of the Foundations' accounting systems; and contributing to departmental and divisional strategic goals. Assists the UWG Foundation's Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with annual foundational operating budgets preparation, and reporting. Assists the CFO with compliance functions such as annual financial audits and federal and state information returns.

Responsibilities

1. Accounts Receivable Function Management
Ensures trained personnel correctly enter and account for all charitable donations, pledges and planned gift agreements, and any other revenue sent to the Foundations in accordance with GAAP and IRS regulations. Ensures all donor charitable gift entries, acknowledgements, and pledge reminders are processed timely and comply with IRS regulations. Responsible for year-end review of outstanding pledge commitments, calculating allowances for doubtful accounts and related discounts, and, ultimately decides with CEO, CFO, and Development which outstanding pledges are deemed uncollectible. Responsible for enforcing Accounts Receivable policies and procedures of the Foundations. Assists the constituent relationships management system with database functionality, and reporting. Provides back-up assistance to CRM director for user accounts set-up and issues, system issues and resolution, and Accounts Payables Function Management: Ensures trained personnel correctly enter and account for all requests for payment and/or reimbursements from the Foundations in accordance with GAAP and IRS regulations. Responsible for reviewing and approving all requests for payment and/or reimbursement; verifying substantiation documents; and initiating bank wires.

Endowments/Scholarships Support: Responsible for Fundriver Balance systems for entering monthly investments performance data. Ensures annual allocations and donor endowment and scholarship reports are produced and processed timely and accurately. Responsible for enforcing Endowment Accounting policies and procedures of the Foundations.

2. Ensures all journal entries to the GL are entered timely, completely, and acc
This includes, but is not limited to, monthly entries from the bond trustees, endowment trustee(s) and other institutional accounts.
Also includes timely reconciliation of the Foundations' banks, trustees, and other institution's monthly statements. Assists the CFO in timely, complete and accurate reporting of the Foundations' financial positions and operations. This includes, but is not limited to, Statement of Financial Position, Statement of Activities, Statement of Cash Flows, related comparative reports, and individual or grouped project reports. Coordinates the annual independent audit as well as all jurisdictional returns and registrations. Responsible for Accounting and Financial policies and procedures of the Foundations. Assists the CFO with annual compliance deliverables including, but not limited to, independent financial audits, federal and state information/tax returns, state charitable solicitations registrations, and municipal bonds required continuing disclosures for respective foundations

3. Assists the CFO in preparation of the Foundations' operational and organization
This includes, but is not limited to, developing budgets, loading budgets into an accounting database, monthly budget-to-actual reporting, and working with colleagues on budget training, issues and projections. Responsible for the functionality, maintenance and security of the Foundations' financial/accounting databases. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring database is structured and functioning properly for users; ensuring user accounts and database security policies and procedures are followed; new users training; and troubleshooting database issues and resolving in timely manner. This position is expected to continually learn features and functionality of the databases to maximize resource capacity and efficiency in processes and reporting. Assists the CFO with general department management including, but not limited to, staff engagement & development, supplies and travel orders, building management and operations, departmental and divisional goal setting. Responsible for supervised personnel's well-being, professional development, annual performance evaluations, and workload management & balancing

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelors Degree

Required Experience
Microsoft Office (all products) proficiency; Knowledge of GAAP; 4 or more years of experience in accounting capacity with increasing level of responsibility; good communication and interpersonal skills; and proven ability to solve problems and manage projects.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications
Masters Degree

Preferred Experience
Experience with Blackbaud constituent & accounting databases; basic knowledge of relational databases; and basic knowledge of contract and charitable giving laws. CPA and/or AICPA notforprofit certification is preferred.

Proposed Salary

ABILITIES
Works well under pressure while delivering accurate financial reporting. Strong ability to work collaboratively across different departments to ensure all Foundation policies and procedures are adhered to. Provide strong leadership and the ability to train, mentor, and manage accounting staff. Deep understanding of GAAP accounting, particularly FASB standards specific to nonprofits. Knowledge of IRS guidelines, 990 filing, and laws governing 501(c)(3) entities. Strong level of internal controls that allow for the safeguarding of revenue, costs, and budgets, Strong
ability to translate complex financial data for non-finance managers and board members. Expertise in fund accounting software such as Blackbaud.

Physical Requirements: Office Environment - Work normally performed in a typical interior
work environment.

SKILLS
Skilled in forecasting, cash management, and strong oversight of accounts payables and receivables.
