Full Job Description

Position Summary
The Medical Provider delivers high‑quality medical care to ppsychiatric patients within our client, Central Regional Hospital, ensuring accurate assessment, comprehensive management of medical conditions, effective interdisciplinary collaboration, and safe transition of patients to community care. The provider also participates in employee health services, emergency response, and organizational initiatives supporting clinical excellence and regulatory readiness.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Patient Assessment and Evaluation
Conduct thorough medical assessments for all new admissions and unit transfers to identify acute and chronic conditions impacting psychiatric stabilization and discharge readiness.
Complete detailed History and Physical (H&P) examinations when assigned or requested.
Ongoing Medical Management
Direct and document evidence‑based management of patient medical conditions throughout hospitalization.
Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests (laboratory, imaging, ECG, consultations) ensuring timely review and follow‑up actions to avoid delays in diagnosis or treatment.
Patient and LRP Communication
Educate patients and/or legally responsible persons (LRPs) regarding planned evaluations, significant findings, and treatment options.
Consider patient and LRP preferences when determining care plans.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration
Exchange medically significant information with Psychiatric team and treatment teams to support coordinated patient care.
Work collaboratively and respectfully with nursing, ancillary, and support staff across the facility.
Collaborate with administrative and CRH Medical Staff personnel on risk management, survey readiness, committees, and special projects.
Discharge and Transition Planning
Participate in discharge planning to ensure safe and effective transition of medical care to community providers.
Employee Health and Non‑Patient Care
Provide assessment and treatment for employees experiencing workplace illness or injury.
Participate in pre‑employment and ongoing employment health assessments.
Assess, stabilize, and facilitate transfer of employees, visitors, contractors, or non‑admitted individuals with unstable medical conditions.
Emergency Response
Respond to medical emergencies involving patients and non‑patients, including management of acute medical decompensation and cardiopulmonary arrest.
Supervision and Collaboration with APPs
Supervise and support Advanced Practice Providers to ensure high‑quality, evidence‑based medical care.
Collaborate with APPs on patient assessments, treatment plans, diagnostic evaluations, and ongoing medical management.
Provide clinical guidance consistent with CRH and NCMB policies.
Moonlighting Responsibilities (Occasional)Medical Providers may perform moonlighting duties which include:
After‑hours medical assessments initiated by RN concerns, medical complaints, lab alerts, or provider handoffs.
Consultations requested by psychiatric providers.
Evaluation of new admissions to the Medical Psychiatric Unit.
Assessment of individuals transferring in after external medical visits.
Emergency response to acute medical events.
Routine assessments coordinated with attending physicians
