Westerman, an employee-owned enterprise, operates multiple manufacturing sites that produce equipment for production and storage in the oil, gas, and nuclear sectors. Our equipment is designed to enhance well pad design, increase separation efficiency, and reduce overall equipment costs through advanced surface separation and processing technology. This role is based in Casper, WY, at our JW Williams facility, which is part of Westerman, Inc. This position requires employees to work on-site in the shop. Candidates must reside in Casper or within a reasonable commuting distance. Westerman, Inc. offer relocation assistance for qualified candidates.
SUMMARY
The Welder is responsible for setting up and operating advanced welding equipment, using their expertise to reduce downtime, scrap, and rework. They are tasked with repairing defective products to high-quality standards and ensuring all work strictly follows specifications. This safety-sensitive role requires a self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic and the ability to multi-task to maintain quality benchmarks.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Consistent and punctual attendance is an essential responsibility of every position and is critical to both individual effectiveness and team performance. Employees are expected to maintain regular attendance and arrive at work on time.
· Interpret blueprints, specifications, and supervisor instructions to determine material locations, quantities, dimensions, and assembly requirements.
· Rig, hoist, position, align, and secure structural steel members such as beams, columns, girders, frames, and prefabricated units.
· Assemble and use rigging equipment, including cables, chains, ropes, pulleys, hooks, and other lifting devices.
· Bolt, tack-weld, and permanently weld structural steel components into position.
· Cut, bend, grind, fit, and fabricate steel components using saws, shears, torches, grinders, and hand tools.
· Force and adjust steel components into final alignment using turnbuckles, jacks, crowbars, and other tools.
· Fabricate and assemble metal parts and structural components according to drawings and specifications.
· Perform pipe fitting and installation/repair of equipment and piping systems.
· Weld separators, glycol absorbers, large-diameter/heavy-wall piping, vessels, and flow coils.
· Perform high-quality X-ray/RT-quality welds consistently and weld in flat, vertical, and overhead positions.
· Weld low-pressure equipment including heaters, reboilers, glycol coolers, liquid accumulators, building skids, and natural-draft combustors.
· Lay out, position, and secure parts and assemblies using precision measuring tools such as squares, calipers, rulers, and micrometers.
· Perform single-hand welding and various electric, gas, and arc-welding processes.
· Inspect welds and components for dimensional accuracy, groove angles, fit-up, and gap tolerances.
· Observe and evaluate hydrostatic, X-ray, and dimensional tests to verify weld quality and compliance with specifications.
· Remove weld imperfections and rough surfaces using grinders, files, scrapers, and other finishing tools.
· Assemble and dismantle structures, equipment, and related components as required.
· Perform other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Attention to detail and ability to make clean lines and cuts when welding
- Read and interpret blueprints; understand how the final product should look
- Identify flaws in welds or structural imperfections in the metal
- Determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job
- Conduct tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed
- Knowledge of the properties and characteristics of metals used for cutting, welding and forming objects and various welding fluxes and rods.
- Knowledge of safety precautions related to occupational hazards, procedures and practices of the trade.
- Skilled in identifying the proper power and hand tools in the safest possible manner and various equipment.

TO BE CONSIDERED FOR A WELDER 4 POSITION:
EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or equivalent
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Technical training preferred but not required
- Five or more years of related experience
- Demonstrated proficiency in four or more welding processes (GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, SMAW, SAW) with ability to pass 2 6G (GMAW/FCAW, SMAW)
- Must be able to demonstrate welding ability and knowledge by performing ASME & AWS Code weld tests on pipe and plate utilizing four welding processes
- Must maintain a minimum of 95% acceptability in NDE tests of welds
- Ability to mentor less experienced welders
