OCCUPATION: FLOORHAND, DERRICK HAND, RIG OPERATOR
General Description of Occupation:
All duties are to be performed according to standard operating procedures in order to maximize the safety of all personnel at the work site and to most efficiently perform the task.
- Lift, operate, rig-up and down the components of the rig and other equipment used on the location.
- Required to position, lift, attach, install and work with casing, drill pipe and associated well equipment such as pumps, swivels, catwalks, etc.
- Rigging-up and down: All elevated work associated with rigging-up or down.
- Drilling the well: All work performed from the tubing board (transferring drill pipe from the vertical racks to the elevator). For standing drill pipe, the Derrick Hand assists in lifting the drill pipe from the rack onto the work floor or vice versa. The Derrick Hand may need to work floors or operate the rig.
- Mud Pump: Must safely and effectively operate the mud pump on location which includes performing repair and maintenance on the pump.
- Supervise the raising and lowering of the derrick.
- Lifting, removing or installing the production equipment as required by the well operator or other designated company official.
- Operating the rig and its components during all oil well drilling jobs.
- Observe and possibly fill in for the Derrickman and the Floor hands during the operation of the rig and its components is essential for safe job performance.
- Reports any safety hazards, accidents or maintenance issues to the rig supervisor.
- Ensures that work carried out is in compliance with company policies and procedures and according to safety regulations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned based on specific role.
Skills you’ll need:
- Workover rig experience
- Must have a "can do", customer services orientated approach
- Ability to communicate both oral and written effectively
- Must comply with all safety policies and procedures
Licenses and Certifications Preferred:
- Safeland/PEC
- Valid driver license
- CDL
- OSHA 10
- Well Control School
- H2S, Forklift/Manlift, and CPR/1st Aid
- Any other heavy equipment licenses or certifications
