About Frontier
Frontier Building Products Pacific, Inc. is a growing provider of commercial overhead doors, loading dock equipment, specialty doors, and related products throughout the western United States.
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Controller to lead our accounting function, oversee our Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable teams, and provide strong financial reporting, forecasting, and operational insight to company leadership.
Construction accounting experience is heavily preferred. The ideal candidate understands the financial demands of a project-based construction environment, including job costing, Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting, forecasting, revenue recognition, and project profitability.
This is an opportunity for someone who wants to do more than maintain the status quo. We currently utilize QuickBooks and are looking for a Controller who can help strengthen our accounting processes, improve reporting capabilities, and help determine and implement the financial systems needed to support the Company's continued growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the Company's day-to-day accounting and financial operations.
- Lead, supervise, and develop Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable staff.
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and management reports.
- Develop and maintain financial forecasts, budgets, and cash flow projections.
- Prepare, maintain, and analyze Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules.
- Monitor job costs, project performance, margins, and overall project profitability.
- Provide management with meaningful financial analysis and identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Ensure appropriate revenue recognition for construction and project-based work.
- Manage multi-state sales and use tax filings and other applicable state and local tax requirements.
- Oversee general ledger activity and account reconciliations.
- Maintain and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Coordinate with outside CPA firms, auditors, tax professionals, and other financial partners as needed.
- Evaluate existing accounting processes and systems and identify opportunities for greater efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
- Help evaluate the Company's future accounting and ERP system needs.
- Assist with the selection, conversion, and implementation of new accounting or ERP systems as appropriate.
- Partner with executive leadership on financial planning, business strategy, and operational decision-making.
- Perform other accounting and financial responsibilities as needed.
QualificationsRequired
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Previous experience supervising or managing accounting personnel.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Demonstrated experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a growing organization.
Strongly Preferred
- Construction industry accounting experience.
- Experience with Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting.
- Experience with construction job costing and project profitability analysis.
- Experience with percentage-of-completion or other construction revenue recognition methods.
- Experience managing multi-state sales and use tax filings.
- Experience working with QuickBooks.
- Prior involvement in an accounting system or ERP implementation, conversion, or upgrade.
- Experience helping a growing organization improve and scale its accounting and financial processes.
- CPA certification is a plus, but not required.
