Who You Are: Senior Proposal & Marketing Manager, AEC
You live and breathe AEC pursuits. You’re a strong writer, a calm leader under pressure, and someone who knows how to guide technical teams through complex procurement requirements to deliver winning proposals.
We’re looking for a Senior Proposal & Marketing Manager (AEC) who can operate as a true player-coach: leading high-priority pursuits personally, while also overseeing and supporting our broader AEC proposal team. You’re comfortable owning outcomes, making smart resourcing decisions, and elevating the story behind highly technical work - all while meeting aggressive deadlines and high client expectations.
You thrive in a consulting environment where priorities shift, clients differ, and no two weeks look exactly the same. You're energized by variety, quick context-switching, and learning new clients & businesses.
What You’ll Do
- Lead AEC proposal efforts end-to-end, from kickoff through submission
- Develop pursuit strategies, win themes, and detailed proposal plans
- Write, edit, and refine core content (executive summaries, resumes, project sheets, narratives)
- Translate complex technical input into clear, client-focused messaging
- Collaborate with SMEs, technical teams, and designers to produce compelling, compliant proposals
- Guide visual storytelling and layout direction in partnership with graphic designers
- Lead preparation for shortlist presentations and interviews when required (orals coaching)
- Support proposal-driven marketing deliverables (SOQs, capability statements, content libraries)
- Oversee the AEC proposal team (W2 + 1099), including resourcing, level-of-effort planning (LOE), and delivery accountability
- Serve as a confident, trusted partner to sophisticated AEC clients under tight deadlines
What You’ll Bring
- 5+ years of AEC proposal experience across state, local, and federal markets
- Proven experience supporting engineering, construction, and infrastructure pursuits
- Exceptional writing, editing, and content development skills
- Ability to synthesize complex input into persuasive narratives
- Comfort guiding SMEs and pushing back when clarity or quality is at risk
- Working knowledge of AEC procurement environments (DOTs, utilities, municipalities, USACE, NAVFAC, etc.)
- High proficiency in both Adobe InDesign + Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Calm under pressure; organized amid ambiguity
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and concurrent pursuits
- Portfolio or writing samples demonstrating high-level proposal leadership
Bonus Points For
- APMP/CPSM certs or active membership in orgs like APMP, NCMA, AFCEA, SAME, etc.
- Experience working with a consulting agency
- Experience working in a company that runs on EOS
- Preference for working in a small business culture
- Familiarity or proficiency in our tech stack: Asana, Harvest, Microsoft Teams/SharePoint
Compensation
- $100,000-$120,000 annual, based on experience
- + $500-$1,000 win bonus for each eligible pursuit you lead to a win (Annual incentive compensation typically averages ~$15,000, depending on volume and win rate.)
