Legal Assistant - Bankruptcy

Reports to: Bankruptcy Manager

Classification: Non-Exempt

Schedule: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm

Job Responsibilities

We are looking for a Legal Assistant – Bankruptcy who enjoys working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment, with an energized team. The Legal Assistant for this position will have excellent communication, organizational, and people skills. The Legal Assistant will be a self-motivator, someone who works well with little supervision.

The responsibilities for a Legal Assistant include, but are not limited to:

Assist with preparing pleadings, letters, and other paperwork (e.g. Motion for Relief, Notice of Appearances, Objections to Confirmation, etc.), as directed by attorneys
Communicate with clients
Maintain attorney calendar
Review PACER dockets
Review and distribute Electronic Case Filings (ECFs)
E-File and Submit court pleadings

Skills & Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Basic concept/understanding of different types of loan documents.
Solid knowledge of office programs like Word, Outlook, Excel, and Adobe.
Basic understanding of bankruptcy process is a plus.
Basic Knowledge of Client Software Databases, such as Black Knight, Tempo and CounselLink is also a plus.

Requirements

Paralegal studies/Associate’s Degree will be considered if no prior law firm experience.
2 years or more experience working in a law firm..
Previous experience in a legal assistant role at a law firm is beneficial.
