Full Job Description

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Logistics Coordinator to manage domestic and international transportation activities while ensuring our products are delivered efficiently, cost-effectively, and with an exceptional customer experience. This position plays a key role in managing carrier relationships, controlling freight costs, coordinating inbound and outbound shipments, and supporting specialized delivery services for customers across North America.

The ideal candidate enjoys solving problems, negotiating with vendors, analyzing freight costs, and coordinating multiple moving parts in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Primary Responsibilities

Manage relationships with parcel, LTL, truckload, and other domestic freight carriers.
Negotiate transportation rates and service agreements to improve cost and service.
Audit freight invoices to ensure charges match contracted rates and services before approving payment.
Investigate freight billing discrepancies and recover overcharges when appropriate.
Coordinate inbound international container shipments from overseas suppliers.
Monitor vessel schedules, customs clearance, drayage, and inland transportation to ensure timely delivery.
Maintain accurate estimated arrival dates and communicate shipment status to purchasing, operations, and customer service.
Proactively identify potential transportation delays and develop contingency plans.
Coordinate specialized delivery services, including white glove, room-of-choice, and installation providers.
Develop and maintain relationships with specialty logistics partners.
Assist in onboarding and training new service providers to meet company expectations.
Investigate delivery issues and work with carriers and service providers to resolve customer concerns.
Analyze transportation performance and recommend improvements in cost, transit time, and service quality.
Maintain transportation records, carrier documentation, and logistics reporting.
Collaborate with purchasing, manufacturing, warehouse, customer service, and accounting to support efficient operations.
Support continuous improvement initiatives related to freight, logistics, and supply chain processes.

Qualifications

2+ years of logistics, transportation, supply chain, or freight coordination experience preferred.
Experience working with parcel carriers (UPS, FedEx, etc.) and freight carriers (LTL, truckload, or ocean freight) is preferred.
Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
Experience auditing freight invoices or transportation costs is a plus.
Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ERP business software systems (NetSuite experience preferred).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Experience

Manufacturing or distribution environment.
International import logistics and ocean container transportation.
Freight claims and carrier performance management.
White glove or specialized delivery services.
Transportation management systems (TMS) or ERP software.
