Trimble Operator

Construction Layout and GPS Data Collection

Pay: $26–$35 per hour, based on experience
Location: Piedmont, SC
Job Type: Full-time
Industry: Electrical Construction
Schedule: Full-time with travel to project sites as required

Position Overview

We are hiring an experienced Trimble Operator to support field layout, GPS data collection, and constructability verification for electrical construction projects.

This position is ideal for someone with hands-on experience operating Trimble GPS equipment in grading, sitework, excavation, underground utilities, or heavy civil construction. The Trimble Operator will collect and communicate accurate field data to electrical designers and engineers, helping ensure installations can be completed according to the project plans and actual jobsite conditions.

This is a field-based position. Candidates must have personally operated Trimble GPS equipment. Drafting, CAD, or surveying experience without hands-on Trimble field operation will not qualify.

What You’ll Do

Operate Trimble GPS equipment to locate, verify, and capture construction points
Perform field layout for electrical construction installations
Collect accurate coordinates, elevations, measurements, and jobsite data
Upload and manage project information through Autodesk Construction Cloud
Share captured field data with electrical designers and engineers
Help verify project constructability before and during installation
Compare project design information against actual field conditions
Identify potential layout conflicts or discrepancies
Maintain accurate field records and layout documentation
Coordinate with project managers, field supervisors, engineers, and design teams
Travel to active construction sites as required
Safely operate and maintain the assigned company vehicle and Trimble equipment

What We’re Looking For

Hands-on experience operating Trimble GPS equipment is required
Experience with GPS construction layout, point collection, and field verification
Background in grading, site development, excavation, civil construction, or underground utilities preferred
Experience with Juniper equipment or total stations may be considered
Ability to understand coordinates, elevations, construction plans, and field layout information
Ability to accurately collect and communicate field data
Comfortable working outdoors and on active construction sites
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Ability and willingness to travel to project locations
Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record

Preferred Background

The strongest candidates will have experience as a Trimble Operator, GPS Technician, Grade Checker, Construction Layout Technician, Survey Instrument Operator, Civil Layout Technician, or Sitework GPS Specialist.
